Excellent watch with great features
The w93h is a great watch with useful features. It’s comfortable, easy to use, and has a shockingly good backlight. The 90s outdoor sport watch vibe is charming, and it looks great on an inexpensive 18mm NATO strap. This might be my favorite Casio. It is a small watch, but its very easy to use and doesn’t cramp my fingers. It is highly readable and the pushers are comfortable to press. All the functions are clear and easy to learn. The button labels are effective. It fits my small 6.25inch wrist very well. People with large wrists might want something larger, (but small watches are in fashion again, so you don’t necessarily have to wear a g-shock the size of a tractor tire). I included a pic next to some common watches I have. The w93h looks smaller than the calculator watch and Hamilton khaki, but larger than the f91. The digits are highly readable, including the day date digits, and each screen is laid out well. The dual time screen is great because it clearly shows both times. The timer and stopwatch screens are also very readable because the layouts aren’t cramped. The backlight is fantastic. It’s bright, clear, and easy to use, due to the dedicated light button, and optional wrist movement-activated auto-light. (The auto light setting disables after 3 hours, so it won’t run down the battery in the day. Great feature!) The screen inverts and the EL backlight shines through the digits, so it looks like the digits are glowing, rather than the space around the digits. All EL backlights should do this! The only flaw with the watch is that the auto light feature uses a micro switch or sensor that makes a rattling sound. It’s almost inaudible, though. (It’s the sound you would expect if you shook an anolog watch with a dislodged hour hand.) I think this is just unavoidable. (Maybe it would be dampened in an expensive watch.) The strap it comes with is good. It’s very comfortable and looks somewhat premium. It has accordion bends and an inset texture. The material is soft like rubber. The clasp is plastic, but seems pretty sturdy. I think the stock strap would last a long time and is definitely wearable. The strap is too long, though. The tail goes far past the side of my wrist, beyond where the keeper can keep it flat. This watch is small, and is most likely going on small wrists, so there’s no good reason to have such a long strap. People with 8 inch wrists probably won’t wear this, and I doubt this would be worn over a wetsuit or thick coat. It has normal 18mm lugs and spring bars, so nato straps fit fine. I think it’s a great way to wear it. It looks good on sporty and military-looking straps. In terms of durability, this really feels like a beater watch that just works. I don’t know how tough it really is, since it’s not popular (there are almost no YouTube videos on it). 50m WR is more than enough for 99.9% of people. The acrylic crystal is the weak spot and will definitely get scratched, but I don’t see how this thing could outright break in normal use cases. This is a great Casio and deserves more attention compared to the f91s and square g-shock types.

Perfect Watch, Except for the Band
I love these watches. I've bought three of these over the past eight years or so. Unfortunately the original band will invariably break, at least in my case, and the battery won't last forever (maybe just three years or so). Even so, nothing lasts forever, and aside from those slight durability issues, this is the best watch I've ever owned. I now would not wear any other watch than this one. It's convenient, and it will never lose time until the battery dies. It has a timer and stop watch functionality that are really quickly accessible and work brilliantly; I use them frequently for exercise and cooking. It has everything a watch needs and nothing it doesn't, that would just get in the way. The body of the watch isn't too big like many watches. It's so light and unobstructive that it becomes an extension of you, and you don't have to take it off in the shower because it's waterproof. I've worn it while hiking, swimming, mountain biking, exercising, and camping, at high elevations and in hot and cold temperature extremes--it's very durable. The illumination feature is very useful, as well. It looks nice enough for most formal occasions and doesn't have big neon writing all over it advertising every single feature like some watches. I hope they never stop making this watch, and if they do, I hope they tell me in advance so that I can buy about five more of them so that I'll continue to have one of these for many, many years more. Since the band will probably break eventually for you if you buy this watch, I would recommend purchasing the Men's Rubbertech Silicone Rubber Watchband with Stainless Steel Deployment Buckle by JP Leatherworks, as a replacement band for this watch--make sure you get the version with a 18 mm band width (model RUB-T2-18). That's what I'm using now with this watch, and it has proven to be very convenient and very durable. The battery is replaceable, but if you do replace it, the watch may no longer be waterproof. For this reason, when the battery eventually dies every few years, I go ahead and buy another of these watches and replace the battery in the original watch just to have as a backup.

Casio is legendary for a reason
Purchased this timepiece for an uncle after he complained he couldn't read his Casio steelband easily anymore. The following review is my experience with a carbon copy version I bought previously. As you can see in the photos, we now own three versions of the same model. I got my W-93H about six years ago (2014?) at Walmart for about 12$ when I was working with a delivery service. My grandmother got hers about a month after I picked up mine. The band on mine first broke on bottom, then broke on the buckle side. At that point (late 2020) I purchased a nylon NATO band set. Even tho the band gave up on me, the time piece itself never did. My grandmother's is in very good condition, and has only gained one minute in the five years she has had it. Understand: my W-93H has survived delivery company, showers, rain, lawn service, and the band (18mm polyurethane) gave up after 5 years? That screams quality to me. Imagine if I had a NATO band on it to begin with. The timepiece is undoubtedly quality. Day, date, and time; front and center. The "auto light" does work. Turn it on by holding the SPLIT button (top right), the auto light functions for 3 hrs and then turns the function off. This is a good thing because it saves battery, this is not a solar watch. Not to worry, so far the battery has not needed changing. I absolutely hate how manufacturer/destributer completely fail to describe or photograph their products. So I have included the best photos I can. In an effort to show off visibility and the lighting function, I also shown off the indicator at the bottom of the screen. It puts a bar over the function it displays. Included dime for size reference. The stopwatch function also has a target alarm. The target alarm is usually used for athletes to beat their previous time. To set it, hold ADJUST and set what time you want. I used the function for when I bake. Something needed to be in the oven for 15mins? Set the Stopwatch for 15mins, then start the stopwatch. It will beep at 15mins, and keep counting, so I can know how long something has been in the oven. Your application may vary. The TIMER function has an auto-rollover. You can turn this on/off. When off, the timer will beep and stop when it hits 0. When on, the timer will rollover and countdown again (the same time you set). I have not made much use of this function. Your application may vary. The watch also has hourly chime and ONE daily alarm. It has a dual time function, I always set my dual time to UTC. The dual time is not affected by any other function. The timepiece does NOT have a daylight savings function. You have to manually adjust the hour. Final note: if my uncle decided he doesn't want the watch, I will very eagerly keep it. That way I would have a backup due to them being difficult to find.

My favorite watch, except I just bought another one
So I've bought several of this exact same watch over the years. I keep buying this watch when my watch needs replacing, because it has all the functionality I need, it's easy to read, it has a great light, it's comfortable to wear all day, and it's reasonably priced, all of which describes a decent number of Casio watches, but also one additional weirdly specific UI improvement that for some reason has never made it to any other Casio watch, despite being really convenient for presumably very little work on their end: the ability to go backwards as well as forwards, when setting the timer, alarm, or for that matter, the current time. I really don't understand why all digital watches can't do that. On the other hand, I also *keep buying them*, mainly because they aren't exceptionally waterproof. If you're just showering with it, that's fine, and I suppose it does specifically say not suitable for snorkeling... but it's also supposedly supposed to be water resistant up to 50 meters? Clearly that's kind of a lie. Anyway, I went snorkeling with it last month, after that the screen slowly started disappearing. A week later it was completely blank. Well, they're cheap enough, anyway, I just bought another identical one at that point.

Great, practical watch with useful functions
I just bought my third one of these over a 10-year period -- keep coming back to this Casio watch module (#1949). 1) Good functions. Dual time zone -- I keep the second time zone set to CA permanently, and adjust the main time zone to wherever I'm traveling. That way, the alarm function is based on the local timezone when traveling, and it's also easy to see what time it is back in CA. And I keep the minute timer permanently set to 10 minutes, with the "keep going" function set "ON". Useful for cooking etc. (roll over twice for 20 minutes, etc.) without having to set in a different timer amount. 2) Excellent battery life. It's always lasted longer than the watch body/strap. A previous instance of this watch, bought about 7 years ago and taken out of service about 3 years ago because I badly scratched the front of it, is still running in my "junk" drawer. 3) Straps ARE replaceable. Use an 18mm plastic strap such as Voguestrap TX1852. 4) The plastic straps DO get stiff and break after 3-4 years. Yes, a negative, but what do you expect at this low price? 5) The most recent one, bought 3-4 years ago, did fail in a way not previously encountered: one of the body's prongs that holds the watchband cracked and soon after broke off, so it will no longer hold a watchband. Hence my most recent purchase. Still can't complain at this price, and now have TWO running backup watches in my junk drawer :) . 6) The light has always been very handy; wouldn't buy a watch without one.

BEST watch ever! Much smaller/more practical than G-Shock! Easy on wrists for pushups, doesn't snag
As you can see from the photo, this watch is much smaller and more practical than a Casio G-SHOCK! I've owned many G-Shocks and other men's watches over the years and this watch is 10mm smaller in diameter (35mm vs 45mm+). That's great! FIIIINALLY I can have a good, solid, durable athletic watch with ALL THE FEATURES I WANT (time, stop watch, count-down timer with auto-repeat option, etc), and withOUT snagging on everything, jamming so much into my wrists during pushups, and being so heavy and awkward it impedes my physical activities. I LOVE this watch! Lastly, it has such a large amount of space where the band connects I am confident it will work well with a high quality NATO nylon strap which will last for many years once this resin one breaks in the next 1 to 2 yrs (as they always do, since I wear them 24/7). Anyway, just look at the picture. It says a thousand words! ---- Update: watch band broke in half yesterday (3 Feb. 2021). I bought it 30 Aug. 2019. So, that's just over 17 months, or 1 yr 5 months. Anything over 1 yr is good for a resin watch band. Now I'm looking for a replacement band. If you have a recommendation, in particular for a resin one like this so it doesn't start to stink and grow bacteria when it gets wet (I wear it 24/7--incl. swimming and in the shower), please post in the comments.

Casio disappoints once again
Casio watches have deteriorated in quality so much over the years. My family has literally eaten through watches over the past bunch of years at an unreasonable rate. Each and every watch, mostly from Casio, have broken way too quickly. It's just so disappointing since I remember having Casio watches that would last for years and years... now the friggin battery last longer than the watch! I find it's usually the band that breaks even with very mild and reasonable use! There's simply no reason that a basic plastic / resin band should crack and break within a year or two of buying and using under very normal conditions. And the cost of a new band makes it not worth it - almost as much as the cost of a new watch... and that's when I can't even find a matching replacement band. When it isn't the band itself, it's the plastic housing that holds the band in to it. with the pin! Or, once or twice, it was the time piece itself which failed - at least once it was when water seeped right through the waterproofing into the electronics while my wife simply washed dishes! So much for it being waterproof for 100 meters! Whatever, just so disappointing to see a company that used to produce such great stuff go down the drain.

Great watch packed with features
I love this watch! I have been wearing a smart watch ever since the first Apple Watch. However, lately, I've found I wanted to try other watches. I was getting tired of always wearing the same watch every day and having to charge it every night and even then sometimes it would still die in the middle of the day. I found I didn't often use most of the features of my smart watch. And, definitely nothing I couldn't do on my phone. The one thing I DO use a lot is the timer function. So, I started hunting for a cool digital watch that at least had a nice timer function. I did a lot of research online and found that a lot of people love their Casio watches. And, this one seems to be a hidden gem at a very affordable price. Most watches at this price point do not have all the features of this one. For me, the main thing I wanted was an easy to use countdown timer. And, this one has it just a single button press away. I use it to time the brew time of my coffee. So, I needed to be able to set the timer down to the second. And, to my surprise, a LOT of watches only let you set hour and minute for the countdown timer. But, this one lets you set the seconds as well. You change the active feature by pressing the "mode" button. It cycles through the features in this order: countdown timer -> stop watch -> alarm -> dual time I wasn't really looking for a dual time feature, but I rather like it and I'm finding it useful. I'm a web developer and often work with UTC time. So, I have the dual time on the watch set for UTC time. When the dual time mode is selected, it shows both the selected dual time (UTC for me) and local time so you can see both times at the same time. The watch it easy to read and has a great backlight function. The backlight illuminates just the numbers/letters and not the background. So, they glow in a kind of cool eerie way. I love it! :) And, if you have the "auto light" feature activated, the watch will automatically turn on the backlight when you raise your arm up to look at the time. Rather cool and very much like how the watch face activates on smart watches. This auto light feature can be toggled on/off by holding the "split" button down. The watch face is a bit smaller than my smart watch and I do wish it was just a bit bigger. But I have small wrists and didn't want sometime too big (such as a Casio G-Shock) as it would look like a dinner plate on my arm. There are some watches that seem a bit bigger but they lacked the features I was looking for or I didn't like the design as much. But, I'm very happy with this watch. I like the band that comes with it but I opted for a 3rd party stretchy braided nylon loop type band. It's adjustable and I love the look. It was easy to swap out the band and I look forward to trying other bands. There are TONS of band options here on Amazon - just look for ones that support 18mm lugs.
