Worked perfectly
I rescued the internal DVD drive from an old Dell Latitude E5500 laptop that was ready for recycling. The DVD drive was model no. DS-8A4S 16C. This cable fitted the SATA slimline connector perfectly. When connected to another PC via a USB port the drive was instantly recognised without the need for additional device drivers. Always satisfying when something works first time! Like other reviewers, my only criticism is the short cable length, which can make positioning the drive rather awkward.

Ordered in error
Ordered this item in error. I needed one with power, to use a DVD drive and thought this would work, but although the drive shows up in windows, it doesn't have enough power to open the drive tray, let alone play a disc.

This item made connecting 2 SDD, 4 hot swap bays, and an optical drive with a minimum of mess. I hate the power cables that just clamp the connector onto the wire, making it nearly impossible to connect 2 2.5" drives stacked on each other.

Impeccable. Je l'ai acheté pour lire des vieux HDD que j'ai retrouvé. Hier j'ai cloné un de ceux-ci : 20mn a peine... Efficace et pas cher.

I used this to clone a hard drive onto a new SSD drive and worked perfectly. Hooke up this unit to a 2.5” SSD, cloned the hard d drive, took out old mechanical hard drive, put in New SSD and worked perfectly. Keep in mine as noted in the pictures that it can nay power up a 2.5” drive, so it will not work on a large 3.5” drive, that requires a separate power supply type of Unit, again as noted in the item description “Pictures”, otherwise it will work fine.
