This sponge is about the size of a sandwich, covered with a rough material on both sides, and has a elastic band over one side so that it's sort of like a "mitt" for exfoliating. When I first got it, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't more coarse (it IS coarse, just not super rough...) because I figured the more coarse it would be, the better it would work. Regardless, it works great- with a little shower gel or body scrub this sponge foams up like crazy and gets skin super smooth and glowing. I especially love the way it works on my knees and elbows (they tend to get super rough).Highly recommended.

This works well - it holds a lot of suds and is just the right roughness, which is to say noticeable but not damaging. Downside is that it has an antimicrobial chemical embedded in it - I usually try to avoid products like that.

Good size, but because it's so big, it seems to not hold up its shape after the first use. It collapses when wet. And the scrub is a little more course than I like. But it does exfoliate as advertised. I've only been using this for a month, so not sure how long it'll last. Hopefully I get at least 3 months out of this thing.

Out of the package it seemed scratchy, at least to my spouse, but felt absolutely wonderful on my skin in the shower. Very gentle, very lightweight, and easy to lather up, but took a bit longer than a comparison loofah sponge to remove excess soap from the scrub. Highly recommend.

if you're looking for some hardcore exfoliation, look elsewhere. this thing is about as rough as the soft side of a sponge. my skin never felt truly invigorated or really scrubbed when i bathed with this. i've started using kitchen dish scrubbers - the thin green scratchy sponges. scrubbing my face with that is really rough but it's clearing up my acne scars, as well as the acne i have on my shoulders. my skin feels raw and truly invigorated when i scrub with that. with this product? not even a little bit. if you're looking for very very mild exfoliation, give this a shot. but if you're looking for something that'll really exfoliate your skin (or you require a more abrasive exfoliation pad), i'd suggest looking elsewhere.i have a friend who washes his skin with brillo pads and he's as smooth and milky as a porcelain toilet.

I bought this in August of 2015. I am just now ordering another one.I am a first responder, and use this sponge to shower at work. So, it gets used around four times a week.The sponge has been great, and lasted a really really long time. Over time it has become coarser, but it has not really been anything but expected. I think it is nearing the end of usability so I'm getting another one. What more could you want from a sponge?

X large is not very large. barely the size of your hand. Would have liked it a little bigger as I bought these for my husband.
