Microplane All-Stainless Steel Lemon Zester Tool, Blade made in the USA

I don't often write reviews, but this thing inspired me to. I read other reviews that said they didn't miss the handle, so I took a chance. I admit that it required a little creativity to figure out the best grip for my hand personally, but the joyful part came when I slid a fresh chunk of pecorino romano down the length of this very sharp tool to then watch the snowfall of fine, soft cheese float down to the waiting porcelain collection dish. So easy, so efficient. And made in America, baby! Excellent quality. I might actually score a bunch for Christmas prezzies...

When these first came out and chefs raved about them, I bought one, loved it, and started buying them as gifts: they are light and take no space in a suitcase so brought them to friends when traveling. They always become their favorite kitchen item too. I like these handle-less ones as I will rest them across the top of a bowl when grating. They just need a quick rinse and dry quickly. Great product.

Yes, it is true. This high quality item is actually made in the United States Of America! I gave it 5 stars because I like things that are well made and perform the task that they were designed to do and do it well. But wait, that's not all! Not only does it work as intended, it is inexpensive, and simple to use. It does work better for zesting or shreding some foods and ingredients better than others but that may just be a matter of learning how to hold and manipulate the tool for that item. I said that it was easy to use and it is, but you do have to find out the best way to hold it to fit your own hand size or the task you are preforming. Use it 2 or 3 times and you're a Pro. For the money, and the free shipping possiblity, and crazy good way that it shaves off parmesan and romano cheeze,go for it! Don't worry about hurting yourself, it is no more dangerous than a sharp knife or a pot of boiling water. It comes with a very durable plastic guard/storage cover that protects the sharpness of the tool and your hands.

I ordered the microplane 40001 zester recently because I find myself having more and more recipes that call for lemon, lime or orange zest. In fact, since receiving the zester last week I have used it four times already. It got a really good first use when I grated an entire large piece of ginger on it. I have never grated ginger so quickly and effortlessly. I have used it to zest an orange, lemon and lime, all with great ease. The zester is high quality stainless steel and comes with a convenient and very durable plastic sleeve with grroves where you can just slide it back in when you are finished using. The grater itself is quite sharp. It is super easy to clean with just water and a little soap. I have delayed getting one of these for a long time and I'm so glad I finally decided to get one. The price is really good. I'm sure a more expensive model with a handle would be nice, but I find it to be unnecessary. It was comfortable to use even while grating that large piece of ginger.

Bought my first at a garage sale for next to nothing. After using it once, I threw away my old zester which was awful. Have since gifted it to quite a few friends and family members. In addition to zesting citrus, which it does beautifully, it's also good for finely shredding hard cheeses like Parmesan and for grating garlic.

Microplane graters are terrific, full stop. I own two others with black plastic handles, which I use constantly (for citrus zest, garlic, ginger, butter, cheese, etc.); but the chunky handles take up drawer space, so this model seemed the perfect spare for when the other two were in the dishwasher. (Hey, I cook a lot.) Unfortunately, the protective cover curled up lengthwise in the dishwasher, becoming too narrow and extremely tight, such that, if you are able to force the grater into the cover, the grater's sides actually slice into the plastic guide rails, creating plastic shavings. The covers on the other two that I own are constructed differently of heavier weight plastic and have been through the dishwasher countless times with no such problem, but I should not have assumed this cover would be the same. Please don't make the same mistake I did: HAND WASH THE COVER. The product description for this model is careful to say that the grater, itself (no mention of the cover), can be washed in the dishwasher, so it isn't as if couldn't have known. 👉 Note to Microplane: absolutely would be ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ with a dishwasher safe cover that retained its shape.

Been using my 2 of these for 20+ years, LOVED THEM. They do citrus zest, nutmeg, chocolate and cheese no problem. I just decided to get new ones because mine had finally dulled. I have never missed the handle, never had a problem with the sleeve shaving off plastic bits. The person who cut the sleeve in half to make a handle of sorts - genius!!

Con mango será mucho más cómodo y ergonómico, pero creo que este es mejor para una cocina profesional ya que el mando o las uniones pueden ser nidos para gérmenes. No se me ocurre una razón por la que comprar un rallador que no sea Microplane. Quizá no sean los más baratos, pero es una herramienta para toda la vida.

I have seen chefs on TV using these for a while and you just can not get them on the high street well not mine anyway and I just had to have one. This is a zesters dream, not only does it remove all the zest from your citrus fruits and all of it - it does it without removing the pith. And no more zesting your fingers or knuckles like when using those nasty box graters. I have also used it on garlic and hard cheese with good results, and it cleans up with no fuss. A foodies dream present as it makes cooking less stressful if you have the right tools for the job. Definitely will recommend.
