Overboss: A Boss Monster Adventure - Dungeon-Building Bliss!
Brotherwise Games has hit another home run with Overboss: A Boss Monster Adventure, offering a refreshing and strategic twist on dungeon-building games. This review reflects our enthusiastic experience with this delightful addition to the Boss Monster universe. The standout feature of Overboss is its ingenious combination of tile-drafting and area control mechanics. The tile-laying aspect allows players to craft their own unique dungeons, while the area control element introduces a competitive layer as players vie for dominance in various terrains. This dual mechanism creates a dynamic and engaging gameplay experience. The thematic immersion in the Boss Monster universe is superbly executed. From the charming pixel art on the tiles to the nod to classic video game tropes, Overboss captures the essence of the Boss Monster world in a new and exciting format. The familiarity for Boss Monster fans is a delightful touch, while newcomers can easily dive into the captivating universe. The tile-drafting system is a stroke of brilliance. The simultaneous selection of tiles keeps the pace lively and encourages strategic decision-making. Choosing tiles that synergize with existing terrain types, monster abilities, and scoring objectives adds layers of depth to the drafting process, making each turn a satisfying puzzle to solve. The variability in scoring objectives adds replayability and strategic depth. With a diverse set of goals, players are compelled to adapt their dungeon-building strategies in each game. The dynamic scoring objectives ensure that no two games feel the same, fostering creativity and adaptability in response to changing conditions. The game's accessibility is commendable. While offering strategic depth for seasoned gamers, Overboss is welcoming to newcomers. The straightforward rules and intuitive mechanics make it easy for players of all skill levels to grasp the game quickly. The game's accessibility, combined with its engaging gameplay, makes it an ideal choice for game nights with diverse player experiences. The component quality is outstanding. The thick cardboard tiles, vibrant artwork, and sturdy tokens contribute to the overall tactile pleasure of playing Overboss. The clear iconography on the tiles and reference cards streamlines the gameplay, ensuring a smooth experience without constant rule-checking. The scalability of Overboss is a testament to its thoughtful design. The game adapts seamlessly to different player counts, offering an equally enjoyable experience whether playing with a small group or a larger party. The scalability, coupled with the quick setup and playtime, makes Overboss a versatile and accessible choice for various gaming occasions. In conclusion, Brotherwise Games' Overboss: A Boss Monster Adventure is a triumph in the dungeon-building genre, delivering a delightful combination of strategy, theme, and accessibility. With its inventive mechanics, thematic immersion, variable scoring objectives, accessibility, outstanding components, and scalability, Overboss stands as a fantastic addition to the Boss Monster universe. Highly recommended for gamers seeking a fresh and engaging take on dungeon-building fun!

Great game, easy playthrough, good quality!!
This game is so fun to play, we bought it for our child's 8th Birthday and he picked it up quickly. With various levels and lengths of game play you can easily switch up and have new goals, and wars with each playthrough. The rules are pretty straight forward but beyond the basic play can get a bit overwhelming. Once you play a few times though (each game for us lasted about 20-30 minutes) you get into the groove of it. The product is a great quality, very well made, and the artwork is so cool. Definitely worth the price. I highly recommend for your next game night.

Easy to Learn, fun to play
I got this because my hubby and I love playing Boss monster and I love tile laying games. It was super easy to learn, I watched one 10 minute game play on youtube and was ready to play. The scoring can be a little complicated but honestly it wasnt too bad. We play 6 rounds and I won them all. Hubby started to come around the more rounds we played and each game got tighter and tighter in the scoring. Overall the quality is nice, the boards are thick. The graphics are on par with boss monster-think 80/90's video games. I would recommend to a gamer that likes medium weight games.

Fun for you and the kids easy to learn
Huge fan of the boss monster series and when this came out, had to have it, my kids were somewhat of a fan of the card game, but they definitely all love this board game simpler and easier to follow for kids that aren’t able to understand complicated rules they absolutely love it and I love that it has different modes so that you can just do the base game and then as they learn more, you can add more rules and make the game more complicated as they get better at playing it. I love games that do that and I really support the brother wise games company and I can’t wait for their new addition to hit the market to purchase it. I own all of the boss monster cards sets currently out.

Fun (and easy to learn)
Bought this game after playing it twice at a friend's house, and I am not disappointed. This game does not take long to explain / learn, but has enough challenge and variety that it does not become repetitive or boring. Works as a two player game, but is more enjoyable with more players. We do not use the "boss card" expansion, as it feels unevenly balanced, but the original game is more than sufficient. It's in high rotation right now.

The game play is fantastic, however the tiles and boards are very cheaply made. The images are peeling from the middle cardboard.
