Using this retractable dog lead every day. It extends 3 metres, which is just the right length. It retracts smoothly and silently and is easy to stop and release. Handle is comfortable to hold. Good product.

I bought this when my dog chewed the previous retractable lead and so far I am very pleased with how it work. It is easy to put a hold on or give leeway at a touch, and it does not tangle or get caught in the dog's paws when he stops or turns around unexpectedly, because the lead reacts to the dog's movements and retracts very quickly as the distance diminishes. The only minor draw back is that the handle is a bit bulky and heavier than the one I had before. However it still fits in one of my pockets when I take the lead off.

Cord colour was not as advertised. This is a heavy duty lead which should last well, but probably not ideal for the old or frail. The two-part brake button mechanism takes a bit of getting used to and I worry that if my 35kg doodle suddenly sees or smells a fox and shoots off at great speed after it he'll be running at full speed by the time I manage to press the buttons correctly.

Really impressed with quality and feel. Have you used it several times and is working well. I have even added a chew proof lead from my harness, the Tug extendable attaches to it and it works fine. Would definitely recommend.

We’ve tried a few extending leads over the years and this is by *far* the best. Why?+ handle size. Unlike the main well-known high street brand, the handle is a good standard size no matter what size your dog (the other brand seem to think the owner’s hand size corresponds with the size of the dog?!)+ handle angle. Many of the other brands have a really steep angle handle so you end up crooking your hand back. This one is a shallower angle so much more comfortable to hold.+ solid clip. The clip seems well constructed and securely attached to the tape; with a very determined and strong dog it has been well tested; after 6+ months it is showing no sign of wear or yielding!+ Tape length. The extending tape is a good length, fine for my spaniel (sadly has to go on a lead now due to eyesight problems) to have a good explore, but manageable for me.+ Tape strength. I’ve heard of other brands with tape (rather than string) where it snaps right out of the handle but this seems really well secured.Some slight downsides to be aware of but definitely not showstoppers (the things above, like handle size / angle are definite showstoppers for me; obviously need to judge for yourself what is more important of the features for you)+ / - lock feature. The lock is good and does hold well, but can be a bit ‘sticky’ to engage at first. You have to be quite deliberate about it. This may be compared to our old one which was very worn out and maybe too easy?! I can live with this as when locked it holds well. It does (like our last one) have the option to manually hold the button down too, ie if it just for temporary control, which I find really useful.- Tape return. This is the only slight, and I mean slight, downside. The tape, if fully extended and/or slightly twisted can sometimes get a bit stuck but a slight tweak frees it easily with no damage. This could easily be user error as much as the product having a slight niggle! I can definitely live with this given all the pros.

I have only used it once but on this basis I would say it is nicely designed for comfort and use, seems robust and well made; I see that there was a complaint about the length. It is around 5 metres. I have not bothered to measure it and my dog has no complaints.. I see no obvious faults.Now I have used it several times, in use my only quibble is the shape of the aperture through which the lead comes it is shaped with a centre prong which, it is said, makes it jam free . Not so. It jamms at least onec on each walk,I would not drop it to four stars but more like four and a half.

So far so good. Much better than the last one Ihad which kept getting the lead trapped in the casing join due to my over excitable dog. The design of the anti tangle fitting prevents this so less hassle.

The trigger switch takes some getting used to it sometimes releases when tension relaxes which can be alarming if not expected, the handle grip is s overlarge for small hands and while sturdily constructed it is heavy in prolonged use if your companion is prone to pull, I got the black colour which was probably a mistake as the lead is not very visible on these dark nights. If you are a six foot body builder it's for you if a five foot weakling maybe not
