Great Pictures and Facts!
I bought this for my 4 year old son who began showing an interest in bugs. He loves this book! It's got amazing pictured that he loves to look at (honestly, to someone who doesn't like bugs like me, the pictures are gross though but he loves them) and ask all sorts of questions. The book has great information about all the bugs in it and fun (vocabulary) words for little minds to learn.P.S. The dog liked the taste of it too! I had to buy a second one to replace the first because our dog got to it.

Great Book for Inquisitive Minds!
We love this book! I actually bought a second copy and my two kids are thrilled to have their own. My youngest, 3, likes to go page by page and tell me which bug is shown. My oldest, 5, can't read yet but also likes to tell me which bug is pictured and then recites some of the facts he learned from me reading it to him. He generally enjoys books that are geared towards older children because he becomes absolutely immersed with learning about his favorite topics. We have great resources for his other passions -- dinosaurs, sharks, whales, and evolution -- and he's so excited to finally have the perfect book about bugs. I consider myself a fairly educated human but I've learned quite a few things thanks to his interests, and this book taught us both a lot. :)

Colorful and lots of information
Before COVID, I volunteered to help first graders learning to read. They now can't have in person visits and can't visit the libraries at school or citywide. I've become pen pals with the class and when a child expresses an interest in a particular topic, I try to get him/her a book so they can begin a personal library and to encourage reading. This one has lots of colorful pictures and information for a budding naturalist. Tracy Brotherton

Great book for the first to second grade reader
This is a well made book with a thick paperback cover, strong binding and thick pages. Photos are absolutely clear and fascination. The font choice is easy to read and printed in a size that is easy to see but not so large that it feels like they were trying to fill space. Page layout was planned so that text is always easy to read, even when crossing a color block.Living in the country and on a working farm, my kids (ages 6 - 13) love bugs of all kinds. Well . . . not flies and horseflies . . . but even those are interesting. This book starts with an introduction to bugs and what they are, metamorphosis, and then jumps into different categories of insects. Moths, butterflies, beetles, fireflies, mantises and more. Each bug gets an explanation, a fact box and beautiful photos. It is hard to overstate how nice the pictures are!The book is written at a level appropriate for my first and second graders but to be honest, all my kids loved looking through the book and reading it.Very happy to add this book to our shelf. No complaints, other than we would have loved more!
