The camera really doesn't do this color justice it is amazing!I got this particular color shift because it looked like the same color shift on the Nissan GTR r34 midnight purple II and honestly this is as close as it gets. If you want to see what this color looks like in more detail I would highly recommend looking up "Midnight purple II Nissan" on Google.As for the durability of the vinyl, I have yet to test it on my laptop but givin that it is 3M and vinal is fairly standardized I think it would be fair to say that it will last and stick to my laptop for a while.I cannot think of anything negitive to say about this product, it is exactly as described by the manufacturer and even more since the purple does not only change into auburn but also blue-ish. Absolutely amazing and arrived faster than I anticipated well worth the money

On the XPS 9700 there's nothing for the vertical sides. There were no directions with mine. I should have searched the internet before diving right in, they have videos online. Being that these are super sticky vinyls (I don't know if mine were extra stick or what, but they are extremely sticky, a restart means pulling them off and they stretch a tiny amount. Their cut is very precise, so stretching can cause imperfections and in my case a small tear. The occasional bubbles (big or small) are very easy to push out with a damp rag.So, check their website for the how-to videos and don't dive right in like I did. I wish I had.

I cannot address durability; only had it for a week. Be careful applying: start right up to the edge. Easy to apply; fits perfectly; looks great. I was especially impressed with the laser cutout for the Dell logo (totally unnecessary but nice attn to detail). This MAY prove to be a problem, as it leaves small thin pieces (the "E") that could readily come off; but pure conjecture at this point. Nicely Done!Wish I could have bought only the top cover; maybe the bottom; defenitely not the pieces for the inside. The interior material shouldnt require it.

The wrap did a great job of protecting the laptop getting shoved in and out of the backpack all semester long. The color shift is great too. I did have to trim a small bit on the sides but I may have stretched the vinyl a little too.
