It’s taught us both so much. We pick a different recipe each time she is with us and she will has a couple she will randomly make now (the Big B.L.A.T is her fave). I like that it focuses on technique and also on weighing your ingredients, since cooking it truly a science. I now make the chicken noodle soup even when she’s not with us! Review: This is just what I was looking for! - This book is fantastic for my pre-teen grands. I was concerned it was for younger children, but it is perfect for kids I believe no younger than 8, although I know of many exceptions these days, my grands were not interested in this before now. I'm a huge fan of Melissa Clark, u subscribe to the NYT COOKING, because of her. It is modern and fresh with pictures, great instruction, tips and techniques, and recipes they will eat, and there are many tasty healthy recipes as well. I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THIS! I bought this for 4 grand boys ages 11 to 15 years.

A Great Book For Learning Kitchen Basics (even if you aren't a kid)
I bought this book for a friend's daughter because I liked the one that I found at Goodwill so much that I didn't want to give it away! Too many cookbooks that are aimed at "kids" are mostly filled with recipes for sweets. This book not only contains recipes for balanced meals, it actually teaches cooking techniques using basic ingredients. And its recipes for desserts usually provide detailed instructions for how to make them from "scratch" instead of a mix.

Title was a bit misleading and not what I was looking for. And even so, the recipes are not that easy for beginners that the book is intended for… Over all, very misleading title.

This is the best children's cookbook I have ever found. The recipes are delicious and the instructions are simple to follow but not dumbed down. It allows a child to actually cook proper recipes with the full assortment of flavors, spices and ingredients. Very well done.
