Easiest install and works perfect
The media could not be loaded. Quality. For years I have been buying Kwikset and nothing else. I love the smart key. One key for all your locks! The process to re-key takes 10 seconds and is secure. Pure genius. This is my third powered auto smart lock for the front door. I had to get a keypad when my son was in school so he would be able to get in the house. No keys to lose! It wore out eventually and I got another keypad lock that was on the dead bolt instead of the door handle. Much better idea. And now this the Halo fingerprint lock. The Halo looks great and the motor is a lot smoother this time. Feels really well made.Fingerprint sensors are common now but people still have problems with them. Clean your hands. Wipe off the sweat. Be nice to your sensor. I use a Pixel phone so I know what a BAD fingerprint sensor is. My phone is hit or miss. This lock is not. It works every time. You see blue lights as it scans then green and it's open. Simple.Timer. Yes. I set mine to 30 seconds. It's always better to have your home locked then not in my opinion, and when the key is your finger why not? This is a no brainier. I know it's extra wear and tear but it's what it's for. These things wear out over time no matter what anyway. I don't mind replacing security every 5-8 years. Good investment.App. This company wants this to be easy and it shows they have their stuff together. Every step of the way they explain what we are doing and how long it will take. Even the parts boxes in the main box are numbered. Yes , numbered and they match the step number in the instructions. Well done! The app setup starts with a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. You update all the lock software and run through a step by step process. You make an account and verify it with an email or phone number( or both), makes sense since this is security for home right? Set up users fingerprints and add WiFi. So yes you can lock or unlock your front door from anywhere on your phone. It also has notifications sent to your phone any time the door is unlocked. You can turn all this off if you don't want that.No Keypad? Don't want it. Why would you not use the fingerprint sensor if you live there? If someone who doesn't live at your house is letting out your dog or taking care of mail and plants while you are on vacation there are better options then a keypad. I changed my old lock keypad code once a year anyway so it was just as easy to give them your spare key. It's a temporary pass to go in and out of your home, not forever. If they called you you could use the app to open the door from wherever you are instantly. Lastly you can add their fingerprint to the lock with the app. Takes about a minute and you can remove them when you get back home. I may sound paranoid but I have had my home broken into and it changes you. A bunch of your stuff gone and the rest thrown all over the floor. You feel violated. Let's not throw the blame game on top of that. The fewer people that have access to your home the better. The people who live at your home are the only ones who should have their fingerprints in the system or have a key. Its just common sense for better safety. This is easily the best thing I have installed that's WiFi connected or "smart" in a long time. This lock gave me no trouble at all. Smooth simple process and everything fit perfect. It looks great and I am so happy I don't have to punch in a code anymore, or change it. Fingerprint and WiFi are a way better way to do this! A+ job on instructions and App. They send you an email to ask you how they did after your lock is all set up. That's good customer service. It does still exist. Wow.

Great Deadbolt!
We got this deadbolt to replace a keypad wi-fi enabled deadbolt (Alexa, Siri, Apple HomeKit, and app connectivity). Tired of punching in numbers. The new lock install was a little tedious, teeny tiny screws my other half kept dropping. He was not happy that it is not compatible with Alexa, Siri, and HomeKit, but it does have wi-fi and an app. He said he would give it a chance until the latest date we could return. Well, we're keeping it, we love it, so much easier to deal with, and the compatibility issues don't matter at all. It opens so quickly voice control doesn't matter. The app works great too! It's set to auto-lock after 30 seconds. Great deadbolt. Very happy with it!

Revised: Don't buy....very flawed product and AWFUL customer support
updated 6/3/24: These were pure junk. Terrible software, didn't work when your fingers got a little damp or humid, dismal battery life, constantly needing to be re-setup after they lose their brain. I installed MyQ series which also works with Liftmaster/Chamberlan Garage equipment. Very happy with this. Run from this junkupdated 1/31/24: Had one still installed, I removed and am now using a much more reliable competitor product. Honestly these were an awful product.Update 1/15/22: I removed these today. I must admit after a few firmware updates they got a little more reliable, but usually after about a month it locks up and needs reset or rehanding. But finally on my front door the actuator gave up. Great Idea but awful implementation and Kwikset should be ashamed at fielding such a junky flawed product.Update 3/24/21 - Customer support doesn't respond EVER, so don't waste your time as they are basically useless. And Kwikset if you are reading this, know that I have made my findings about your poor service known to every building group in central florida and will continue to do so. You are an awful company, What I did figure out however finally was that it is likely one of the problems I am having is overheating. The unit is black which makes it absorb more heat and the unit seems to "lock up" when the afternoon sun shines on it. It seems to work after it cools down. (I have started putting a little cardboard cover over it). To get it to reset you always have to pull the battery pack out for a few seconds and then re-insert. Obviously a crappy design.Update 3/14/21 - Still no response other than asking for for information I already provided. Do not waste your money on this product it is from a company which is providing flawed products and won't even respond. My suggestion is, just return this garbage.Update 3/8/21 - After days and days of waiting I finally get a response from kwikset customer response. Useless.Update 3/1/21 - Of the two units I have bought both now have failed. Fingerprint reader locks up after a few reads and becomes unresponsive. I can pull the battery pack out and it temporarily fixes, but will soon fail after a few more reads. Note that I have not had any issues with Wifi or connectivity others have reported and product is reliable from that perspective. But this product obviously has some serious basic reliability or software issues. I've read that they had hardware problems that may have been addressed recently but the manufacturing date on mine were from last september.. But as far as I'm concerned these units, although looking very promising are basically junk. Kwikset should be ashamed at selling this kind of junk.Update... 2/28/21 - Other unit that was working ok, behaving badly. For some reason the fingerprint reader just stops working randomly. No response. usually pulling battery case out for a couple of minutes apparently resets it and it works again for a while.I have mixed feelings about this product. I mostly like it, but it has reliability problems. I also had one of the units with out of box failures, so they definitely have QA problems. The good:-Pretty easy to install and replace an existing deadbolt. That is usually when it goes well.-Fingerprint read is quickThe Ugly:- The app sucks.. There is no dashboard so that when you have several of these in your house you can quickly assess lock status of all your doors. It seems not to have been designed with any concept of whole house automation. Also you have to enter your fingerprints for each user on each lock. You would think they would be able to share fingerprint data. So I have 6 of these things and have to go to each one with each family member to enter. Really stupid.- The Wifi integration is lousy.. Constantly falling off of Wifi and and gives offline status.- Reliability is poor. I've had two units that were bad right out of the box.- Customer support.. SUCKS.

Great Upgrade!
Several years ago I installed the 1st generation of the Kwikset KEVO lock. It was revolutionary at the time and over the years it worked good enough. When there were problems, Kwikset replaced it with a newer model which worked nicely for several more years.A couple of weeks ago that lock quit working. I called the company's tech help line. The rep walked my through some troubleshooting steps and determined that the Bluetooth circuitry had failed. He said that I could continue to use the lock as a conventional deadbolt, which I did for an about a week. But I was spoiled! The convenience of the electronic lock was just too good to lose. After looking around and doing a lot of reading, I decided on the Kwikset Halo Touch Fingerprint Deadbolt. I'm really glad I did! This is many times better than the original KEVO, and it was good. With just the touch of your finger, it unlocks smoothly and quickly - much faster than the old KEVO. It offers several other features that I will activate when I have time.I highly recommend this lock! You won't be disappointed!
