Best glass cutter for amateurs as well
Rehabbing our 1910 wavy glass windows, we struggled a bit to learn the best techniques to cut new panes from older salvaged sash. Started with a cheaper pen-type cutter and soon learned that this is an area where you don't want to cheap out on the tools. The TOYO brand is excellent, if pricier, and I really appreciate the ability to replace the cutting wheel without having to purchase an entirely new handle. Like any fine cutting edge, you want to avoid running it over any tiny grit that will dull it faster. Works great with every cutting oil brand we've used. We find that the pistol grip on this cutter gives you better control and a little more leverage when scoring away from yourself rather than drawing forwards. Give it a shot!

Game Changer
I initially purchased a common "key" type glass cutter from a local hardware store, and then a pencil type brass oil feeding cutter from the HL craft store. Much of the HL glass I was attempting to cut had some dips and bumps even on the smooth side. Some glass my cutter would just slide all over the glass. I noticed as I watched more and more videos that almost everyone used Toyo cutters, and mostly pistol grip. Not sure if it was me, the glass, or the cutter, I broke down and ordered one. I didn't get it out until 2 days ago to start a new project for the class I'm taking. All I can say is WOW! All of those people wielding Toyo cutters on YT are so right - this is absolutely a game changer for me. It is comfortable to grip and easy to apply pressure in the correct area, angle, and amount due to the position of the cutting head in relation to the grip. All of this also makes it easier for me to guide the cutting head along pattern lines. I have tossed my $4.95 hardware store key cutter aside and plan on buying a spare cutting head for this one. I am now extremely interested in the larger head for cutting thicker glass. Have converted into a true Toyo cutter fan.

Better for arthritic hands
I just started doing glass again after about 10 years.I kind of let it go because I was starting to have little problems cutting and gripping the glass.I was losing a lot of control with my old pencil style cutter when trying to cur small or curvy pieces. After some practicing on scrap I’ve found I have better control with this style now.It seems very well made,I know this brand has a good rep.Like some other reviewers have said,I wouldn’t put more than maybe 1/2 inch of oil in,cutters usually leak when full.I also store upright.

Easy To Hold & Easy On Your Hands
I learned the art of stained glass work more years ago than I care to remember. I was taught using the old ball end type cutter. Now that I'm older, I wanted something that would be a little easier on my hands and fingers and this cutter is it! To be honest, I'm having a little trouble transitioning to this new cutter. Old habits die hard. But the more that I use this cutter, the more I like it! Long term, I'm certain this was the best choice for me.

Worked perfectly
This is a great cutter. I was using a straight pencil cutter and really couldn’t stand it. I breathe through this rather large window without any bad cuts, which is remarkable and speaks to what a great cutter this is.
