very thorough, very easy to read
I got this for my son who is about to take his first driving theory test (and hopefully last). It is very comprehensive and quite dense, but everything is explained in crystal clear english and laid out very clearly. The sections cover everything you will ever need to know to pass the theory test as well as the full, most up to date highway code available. It does look like an awful lot to learn, but is so clear that my son and I are quite enjoying going through it - we haven't come across a single instance of hard to follow or unclear advice and there is nothing in here that makes it seem like an impossible task, quite the opposite in fact. Because it is written so clearly with no jargon or unexplained parts, it is quite a confidence builder when you get the section questions right. If you are after a very thorough but easy to read guide, you can't go wrong with the AA. There are all sorts of test guides out there but I think this is the fullest and therefore safest that we've tried yet. If you can confidently pass your theory test you're going to be much better at the actual driving lessons and it will cost you less in the long run. Licences are only probationary these days and the more your child knows, the more likely it is they will have a stress free and safe initial two years. Young drivers need to know the rules confidently and clearly to avoid any accidents, as well as any accidental fines.I'm really impressed with the thought and clarity that has gone into this book and will be recommending it to my friends with teenagers. This is also a handy book for us longer time drivers as well, best to keep up with the road rules after all.

Excellent book for all new drivers who have just passed their driving test
Having just passed my driving test after learning with the AA I bought this with the sole intention of keeping up my theory test skills, hazard perception skills and keeping up to date with the highway code all in one book. I would totally recommend this book because it is ideal for new drivers who effectively are on probation for two years under the New Drivers Act 1995; when you get your full licence it will be easy to forget a lot of the safe driving skills you learned with your ADI as you being driving on your own. When I got my full driving licence in the post yesterday I cannot describe what a wonderful feeling it is to now have my freedom to drive on my own and go wherever I want to; just have to remember to drive according to how the AA taught me to drive on today's roads.
