Calculus Early Transcendentals Single Variable

In general, are calculus books easy to read? I don't think so. I've found that the ones that are easy to read don't have that mathematical rigor needed for building a good foundation which this book does have. In general the book gets that job done, its not to real hard to read, it has good examples, what more would you want. I really have nothing bad to say about the book. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars, because I didn't finish it and say "WOW!" Calculus is a difficult topic and I yet to find a book that was so illuminating that I felt I could learn straight from the text without showing up to class. So in relation to other books I have read, yes it is a 5 star book.

Another nice book on calculus for AP course and college introductory course. Author presents the concepts and proofs clearly, rigorously but in easy to understand way. Good price. Fast shipping and delivery.

The book was in great condition. All pages intact and nothing written inside. I needed this textbook for calc I and II. This allowed me to buy one and not burn a hole into my wallet.

This is definitely a very thorough calculus text for any college or AP level calculus 1/2/3 course. I myself am a biomedical engineering undergrad student and had Calculus BC AP credit entering college, but I still needed this textbook because it includes multivariable calculus as well. It was my text for multivariable calc. I still used this book to review all of calculus 1/2 when I needed to go back. I would say that it was definitely a great refresher for calc 1 and 2, and it undoubtedly helped me in calc 3 with the actual multivariable work. All of the concepts and proofs are clearly presented.

THERE IS NO WEBASSIGN ACCESS WITH THIS BOOK, I LOST MONEY BY BUYING IT BECAUSE I HAD TO BUY THE CODE SEPARATELY.

This book came in as described. My son was pleased with it and used it for his college calculus class.

Chances are that if you're buying this book, you have no choice because it was assigned by your school.The examples are unclear, the text doesn't explain anything thoroughly and often leaves out important steps. As a simple example, for the standard linear equation formula, the book tells you that the formula is ax + bx= c but doesn't tell you how to derive the slope and intercepts. I thought perhaps they just assumed you should know that by now, but the entire book is just as mystifying.I'd highly recommending buying supplemental books, such as Calculus for Dummies, etc. if you're forced to use this book for Calculus.
