Sturdy, Light and Handy Step Ladder
This all-purpose step-ladder is just the right size for most interior household uses that requires such mundane jobs such as changing ceiling lights and other jobs that are above normal reach. In many instances only the first two steps are needed unless the user is less than 5'1" or so. It is sturdy especially when a hefty old man goes to the third step to change fire alarm batteries. No giving and nothing less than keeping me safe is standard. It folds and opens easily; however, it does not lock into either position and that is not a big deal with me and how I use it. A locking mechanism would just add weight and not much more. The three steps are fairly slip-proof and deep enough to hold two size 13 feet with ease. While the little top piece that is designed to hold smaller tools in the tray and on the side with the aid of magnets it only works for little things like screws and bolts or the like. Small tools will stick to the side but, frankly, I would not use them for that purpose. I do not want a tool such as a screwdriver, wrench or knife to get bumped off and cause damage to the floor or critter. It's handy but unnecessary. The two handles are nice and useful especially when available to assist one going up the steps. The configuration of the non-slip feet adds to the safety and appear to be made of materials that will last after lengthy use. Overall, we are quite satisfied with this ladder and expect to use it for quite sometime, Deo volante.

Was picky about what stool to get. This one fits the bill perfectly!
Really pleased with this product. My husband and I are both heavier individuals, and also no fan of ladders and heights. Still, we have tall victorian ceilings, so sometimes you just need the extra reach of a taller step stool. Finding a ladder that is tall enough, has a high enough weight rating, feels stable, stores compactly for a low-storage apartment, and isn't expensive has been a tall order. This one definitely fits the bill, though! My favorite aspect of this design is the safety rail. it has a great height for making you feel genuinely stable while up high. The tray of it has a lip which means you don't have to worry about your lightbulb or screws rolling away on you, or having to have someone nearby to hand stuff up. Initially I was concerned whether the height and angle of the rail would make it cumbersome to store, but the whole thing folds down to just a few inches wide, so it fits easily in a number of places we could keep it in the apartment, without taking up much space. The ladder allows us to be able to reach overhead lamps in 12 foot ceilings while feeling safe. This is a well designed product and nicely manufactured, and I feel they really problem solved a lot of the common issues with taller step stools and ladders. Absolutely recommend.

Won't stay closed when picked up or transporting
Very stable and good design except for the step ladder does not lock or stay closed in any fashion when picked up to use. Ladder automatically opens and makes it very difficult to carry to my work location. I have never had a folding ladder that would not stay in closed position until I used it. May have to send it back to Amazon if there is no solution to this problem.

Never thought I'd use it this much!
Ordered this ladder for use in our new home that has really tall kitchen cabinets. Folds away for easy storage in the pantry and is not too big...it is handy to grab quickly. What really surprised me is how much I find myself going to grab this little ladder for everyday chores/projects around the house. I use it for everything from changing light bulbs, to dusting high places, and it was invaluable during a recent closet system installation. They tray on the front is a bit small for most stuff, but it is great for hanging a spray bottle from or holding small hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.) while hanging pictures or quick home inprovement projects. The magnets on the side of the tray are pretty powerful and are great for holding your scissors or screws and nails so you are not fumbling in your pockets while several feet up in the air. I don't really feel comfortable leaning heavily against the front handle for support while on the top step, but it does lend you a bit of stability by helping you to balance just by being able to feel where your legs are on the ladder.Wish the ladder came with a locking mechanism that kept it from unfolding instead of relying on gravity like a metal folding chair. Overall, though, I'm pleased with this purchase and glad I spent a couple extra dollars on something a little heavier duty. I think this product will have good longevity.

I should have just bought a chair to change my lightbulb.
Not as big as I thought it was going to be. I'm always afraid to go high without something to hang on to. The picture is deceiving. Unless you are a midget, the handles seem just for show, even if hanging onto them to climb. Nothing to really hang onto at all. I'm 5'6, and they don't even reach my waist. Rickety, goes back and forth. Probably will never use the third step for that reason. I'm scared of ladders, I thought with the handles, this would make me feel more secure.Seems like this was advertised with some magnetic basket as well. No basket came, but it has magnets. Why, I don't know, as where you would put them is well below my knees, so why would I put things there to hold? I'd still have to come down to get them?I guess it serves a purpose. When I need to change a bulb, get rid of cobwebs, or put things above my cabinets, it holds me well, although shaky and moves. I can't afford another one. I couldn't even afford this one. I won a gift card, which is the only reason I was able to buy it.
