Great quality
Very durable, super comfy and no problem to jam it in a pocket and slap it back on my head, it doesn't crease and always keeps it's general shape. True military grade product. Size works for my oversized head, I'd imagine it would work for regular sized heads due to it's adjustability. The hat was washed already more than a dozen of times already, but the fabric doesn't seem to fade or loose it's strength.

Trying out like 15 hats. Not done testing but this is definitely a keeper, even fits my huge head.
Great hat. I'm trying out a bunch of hats looking for the perfect travel hiking hat, I'm not sure about the rest, but this one's definitely a keeper. Starting with size, I have a huge noggin. like 24.5 Inches around, a 7 3/4 I believe? I've never found a "one size" that fits, it's so bad it's like a joke to go to a store and try on hats. I look Ridiculous in most caps, etc. This hat actually fits, not just Fits, but I cinch the strap down just a little. Mind you, cinched down more on a normal human head, like my female friend's, it scrunches down better on top, but you do what you can when you have a basketball for a head. Material. It's a thin ripstop 65/35 cotton/poly. I've included a pic of the label for proof. Should be thin and breathable, but pretty durable (more so than the noggin it's sitting on!) The brim is fairly firm, the pic I included is the hat as I took it out of being packaged, no flattening or ironing or anything. It did Not come folded up though, so that may put some folds in it if it's folded tightly, but I don't Think so, I just rolled it up and stomped on it and it seems the same. The coyote color is nice too, no yellow, what I'd call a nice medium khaki. The stitching all seems well done, no loose threads or missed stitching. The brim outer wrap overlaps nicely and is open, so you can feed a thin wire around the brim for more stiffness and a memory bend effect, I will probably check it out (be sure to use stainless or aluminum nothing that can rust). If you're looking for a nice boonie type hat, you should definitely check this one out, especially for the ridiculously low price. Price isn't even in my considerations and this rates as well as the ones 8x as much.

An Outstanding Boonie Hat
I was curious as to what I would receive when I bought this hat. I had also bought a US Government issued boonie hat at the same time from another source. I'll be honest, this hat compares very favorably to and in my opinion may exceed the Mil Spec boonie hats! The material is of equal quality, the width of the brim is the same size but is a little stiffer. In the very top of the hat, there's a double layer of material that can serve as a pouch for storing some small papers if you wished. The only down side is the "chin strap" comes with a plastic cylinderical toggle clip fastener with the chin loop tucked through it that is only held on by its own closure compression spring. If you happen to open the toggle or catch it on something, it can simply slide off of the chin strap cord and become lost or result in you having to spend some time getting the chin loop pushed through the opening while compressing the spring to open its hole. It's also large and is somewhat bothersome hanging around your neck unless you tuck the whole chin strap up into the hat during use. I'm used to the small leather or rubber stamped piece acting as a holder for the Mil Spec hats which work well in my opinion. Yes, I still highly recommend the hat and would get it again.

As advertised: 65% cotton/35% poly, 100% durable, 0% sexy
This hat appears to be the authentic 65/35 poly-cotton fabric I expected. Appears to be high-quality string and plastic cinches, too. Inside the hat says "initial loose fit required" but man this headband is massive; I normally wear large hat size and this thing flops around on my head. I have the head cinch pulled in enough that the hat looks funny (I mean even goofier than boonies normally look). Speaking of style, this has none 'cause it's a boonie; it will keep sun off your ears but it *will not* get you laid. It will, however, endure multiple deployments, expeditions and safaris without a whimper. I cut the map pocket out of my hat to improve temperature regulation, but in hindsight I should have left two strands of map pocket material stretched across inside from left to right to hold the top of the hat slightly off my dome. I may at some point attempt to install extra screen vents in the sides of the hat. If I ever need a second boonie, I will buy this product again from the same vendor.

My new daily hat
I have a Tilly that is wearing out and needed to get something quick for travel. This fills the bill nicely. Easy to adjust for fit, good sun protection and is water-repellent for a while in moderate rain. (NOT waterproof, just repels for a while. In a heavy rain you want an umbrella.) I like this well enough, I might not replace the Tilly, lighter and repels rain for a while without having to use Scotchgard or something similar. The single flaw is that I lost the chin strap slide in about a day. Luckily, replacements are easy to find and are cheap; not the hat's fault that I lost the slide, but it is easy to lose. Is it fashionable? Do not know and do not care. I wore it in London for a little over a week, keeping occasional rain off without soaking through (yes it rains in London), and no one commented on it good or bad, at least that I was aware of. Maybe Americans get a free pass on what we wear while abroad.

Decent hat
The string is a good idea, I found it uncomfortable. So I pulled it out and sewn on a piece of velcro like on the back of baseball caps. I've adjusted the hat and it is very comfortable.

One-size does not fit all
I ordered this hat and the Rothco Boonie hat. They were cheap enough that I thought I'd try both and figured that at least one of them will be good. Well, it turns out the Rothco works best for me. The specific sizing of the Rothco makes for a good fit, while the Tru-Spec is a one-size with a drawstring around the circumference of the headband to achieve the proper fit. I have a smaller head (7.25) and I didn't like the way the drawstring crumpled up the hat by the time I achieved a proper fit. I ended up giving the hat to my dad who has a bigger size head and didn't have to pull the drawstring at all to have it fit well. He likes it a lot and it looks much better without having to tighten the drawstring.
