Super sharp shredders
These are super sharp, lightweight and well balanced, they will slice through most things with ease - fruits, vegetables and fingers. I mean most things but there are things these knives are not recommended for use with, read the instructions in the box to know what not to chop. I've seen reviews where other buyers have complained that these knives are brittle. They probably are thinner than most knives on the market, let's just say they are not thick stainless steel. These blades are not made to be thrown into the sink or dishwasher, or once dry thrown in a cutlery drawer amongst other utensils. They will end up chipped or broken. Then you'll end up leaving a review saying they are brittle and useless. If you want to look after your knives then buy a set of hard knife protectors to slip them in. The knives stay sharp longer than stainless steel and don't cause foods, such as apples, to go brown when chopped. Don't ask me why though. I seen it on the internet and then tried it for myself, et voilà, a chopped apple that didn't go brown. On a serious note - these are top quality blades and if looked after properly they will last for many years.

Sharpest knife I have ever owned.
This is a fantastic knife. Really, really sharp. I have Global knives at home and to be honest this is considerably sharper and they haven't been out of the drawer since this one arrived. It cuts through fruit, veg, bread and meats so cleanly and with such little effort required. Soft, over ripe fruits like grapes or tomatoes are no problem because the knife needs such little pressure to cut, it doesn't squash them first like steel knives do. I liked this knife so much I immediatly went back on line and ordered the 7.5cm paring knife. Compared to steel knives these are very light weight and do feel a little fragile, though I have no evidence that they are. However, considering the cost of the knives a protective cover should come as standard because until I get some I am keeping this knife away from anything it could be knocked against in the cutlery drawer and even then I think it will always have a special place. Just because I love it so much if nothing else!! If you enjoy slicing and dicing this knife will take you the the next level of pleasure! ;-) Finally, Amazon should be able to remove erroneous reviews like the negative one for this knife because to give a product of this quality one star due to postal issues is just plain ignorance. Dismiss that review and concentrate on the sensible ones.

Lethal. In a good way.
Lethal. I accidentally sliced my finger *to the bone* - I could actually see bone - simply by lightly catching the knife on my skin whilst washing it. These things are so sharp it takes almost nothing to cut yourself so you have to be very careful. That's how sharp they are. They also retain the edge for an eternity. £15 to send your knifes when they eventually do go blunt to Kyocera's authorised UK sharpening service when they do eventually go dull - mine are nowhere near that point yet and I've had them for about 14 months now and they have no problem cutting me wide open so it's easy to argue that is well worth the money. Caveats apply with ceramic knives, you have to be careful what you use them for because you can chip and break them because they are ultimately brittle but they're a lot tougher than I expected. Worth buying the quality tools in my opinion.

Blade broke after 1 month-
We had these knives for about 6 weeks and loved them. Very sharp and wonderful to use. Very disappointingly the small blade has now broken. We were only cutting cheese and did not put the blade under any duress. For the price and the length of time we have had the blade I am very disappointed with the purchase - I would’ve expected a knife of this price to have lasted a lot longer. Additionally, my husband is worried he might’ve ingested the part as we haven’t found it anywhere and worry it might have stuck to the cheese he was cutting. I am struggling to contact the seller. Don’t waste your money!

Happy, just paranoid about damaging it
I'm permanently terrified of inadvertently dropping this or snapping the blade in some way, so I've treated it very gently, but after a month or so, it's still impressively sharp (more so than it feels, because there aren't the uneven sharpening edges you get on a metal blade) - more so than I ever got a steel knife to stay except if I resorted to a whetstone. The biggest issue I have is that food sticks to it much more than the colour-coated steel knife I used before, so I tend to throw the things I'm chopping around with an upswing and there's more resistance as I go through moist items; I can't vouch for how it compares to a naked steel blade. I've not tried sharpening it yet (I have the Kyocera sharpener), but nor have I needed to - though I don't expect it to last forever. I'd have dulled a steel blade by now! Oh, and I've had to resort to the blade guard for crushing garlic. It's weird how light this is compared with a metal blade, but it's worked very well so far.

Not perfect, but a great general purpose knife
I bought this knife as a tester, as after having all my decent knives nicked by a flatmate I was told by a friend to give a ceramic knife a whirl before I splurged on any more steel. This knife is very light, nicely balanced, and comes with an unbelievably sharp edge (of the cut-through-a-piece-of-paper-held-with-one-hand variety). Chops through delicate vegetables with complete ease, and as you'd expect from a ceramic knife there's absolutely no flex in the blade (as with every other appalling knife in the house!), so perfect for nice straight cuts through meat, fish and... well, almost everything really. We do a lot of soups and stews and cutting through all that raw veg is now effortless. An utter godsend for onions. Time will tell how long the blade stands up to abuse (although the instructions are very clear on what not to use it on, as well as how you can expect the blade to eventually "dull", via small chips in the edge), but on the face of it this is just as good as a quality steel knife in the same price bracket. The blade feels a lot more substantial than you'd think given its nature, but zirconium dioxide (yup, the same stuff they use for fake diamonds) is *very* tough stuff. These black-bladed knives should be tougher than their white counterparts due to a process called "hot isostatic pressing" which makes the blades stronger. Downsides? The blade is so perfectly flat that things will adhere to it via suction very easily, unlike a chefs knife with air recesses in the blade; this can be a pain if you're trying to chop something delicate very thinly (e.g. mushrooms); you'll need to slide them off the blade. It'll need a diamond sharpener, but what's galling is that Kyocera only seem to provide a knife sharpening service in the USA (and after seeing the edge this comes with, you too will doubt your sharpening skills). It could also really do with a plastic sheath for the blade - since it's non-magnetic you can't use a knife rack (never liked knife blocks, and keeping it in a drawer with other knives is asking for nicks and chips to the blade). Highly recommended as long as you're aware of its limitations. Definitely going to buy some more in this range.

Slice 'n' Easy
This is another for my collection of Kyocera knives. For anyone who suffers with wrist problems these knives are essential because they take all the hassle of effort out of culinary knife work. I've used them for a number of years now and the test for my first one was cutting up a butternut squash. Brilliant!! That one sailed through it like a hot knife through butter. Since then I have added others, the latest being this bread knife and it has not disappointed. Effortlessly slices bread without tearing it and makes fewer crumbs to clear up afterwards into the bargain. The handles of these knives are comfortable too, even for those of us with small hands, being lightweight there's no competing for balance. The only things one has to be aware of are the care and use instructions. Follow these and all will be well. Respect has to be observed. A ceramic blade will break if dropped, even on a carpeted floor. I know, I accidentally dropped a cheaper ceramic knife a few years ago and that was the end of it!! I am more careful these days and mine are stored safely in their own block when not in use. These knives don't cost as much as they did a few years ago, but the quality remains as high. They are still, to my mind, the best available on the market..

Broken already
I was disappointed to find it already broken at that price. I use it for vegetables, fruits, meat (without bones), and green leaves. I bought it just a couple of months ago, and I was shocked to see it broken. While it is very sharp and makes slicing easy, even for parsley and onions, I am still unhappy with my purchase.
