This latch is excellent. It is well-made and very strong. It works far better than the standard gate latch. However, the instructions are surprisingly bad. Unlike most latches, this one has a left and right version which can be easily changed by removing a bolt and swapping the pieces around. The instructions are clear on this feature. However, all of the poorly drawn instructions show a gate that opens IN . My gate opens OUT. This requires the opposite configuration for sides. 30 minutes of head scratching. I would caution a buyer to be prepared for an extra hour to understand the topology! As far as the latch goes, it is very strong, welded gate holder. Highly recommended. Just don't read the instructions!

I used this to replace weak and broken latch on a custom wood gate. It is simple and solid. It has an option to reverse the direction of the latch, which I did for my gate. The screws are good size and there are enough of them to spread out the load of closing and holding the gate. Comparing this to one at a local store for a similar price, this latch had thicker metal and a solid bar for the gate portion (as opposed to a sheet formed into a bar). The only downside for me was the width at about half an inch. I custom built my gate and only made it to have <1/8" gap so I had to cut out a portion of the gate for it to fit. That said, it is so much more solid than my prior latch that it was well worth it. I'll be installing another one on the gate on the other side of my house.

Good latch, works as intended

I bought these latches for my no-dig fence so I could have both a top and bottom latch on my gates. Installation was simple, and they lock securely just as described. It’s been 6 months now, and they’re still working exactly the same as the first day—no issues with strength, alignment, or the finish. Solid, heavy-duty latches that give me peace of mind for securing my yard.

I install these on every wooden fence gate install. They are strong and nice quality. They don’t bend as easy as some other brands when slammed in the wind. Just my .02 as a professional fence installer.

Easy to install. Can go on the left side or right side. No problems using our lock on it. Perfect latch for gates. I had originally bought 2 different types of gate patches from Home Depot and returned them both. They were too complicated and bulky.
