No Fluff!! Gain Knowledge Fast!
This book is perfect for anyone looking to have programming knowledge. Keywords and descriptions are listed to help build your subject matter vocabulary and familiarity with programming. The diagrams and references were great visual aids to assist with knowledge building. They even provide free resources to help the reader get hands on experience! The authors really care about the topic and helping others easily grasp the subject. I appreciate the screenshots and step by step instructions used in the testing and understanding module. As a college graduate, author, and trainer, I understand how important it is to have real life examples provided to help the reader/trainee apply the information being given to be successful. I was very pleased with the real life scenarios provided! I highly recommend this book for any readers ready to start building a solid knowledge foundation.

Great overview to get started with PLC Programming
This book is a good intro to PLC programming if you are just getting started. I code during my day job and I followed along just fine, however someone completely new to any type of programming logic may struggle a little to follow along. The layout is straightforward and the illustrations are clear, however there are some persistent grammar issues throughout the book. Nothing that makes it impossible to understand, but I think including some more rigorous editing in a future edition would make the overall product more polished. At the cost it is a bargain and if you're interested in a good overview to PLC programming its a solid start. (I was provided the product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review).

The links to download the simulation software are invalid and do NOT work.
While there are some typographical issues, one can get the meaning of what's written. Since there are some hands-on PLC work to do, one would need the simulator as stated in the text. Unfortunately, the links provided are not working or have been removed.I would try to find another book with similar content that has working links.

i.e. 'PLC Programming For Dummies'
I knew very little about PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Programming when I picked up this e-book. Now, thanks to Michael Blake and Farouk Idris, I feel like I have quite a bit of a handle on it.Even though it's obvious that English is not the authors' first language, the instructions were clear enough that I could understand and follow along. I was especially impressed with the number of illustrations included in the book, as well as the included software that allowed me to get some hands-on experience. The extent to which they explained the terminology - like "CoDeSys" (Controlled Development System) - was quite impressive, and I never felt lost when I read the specific verbiage, though I did have to refer back to the definitions a time or two.As noted, the book is chock-full of pictures so I never had to imagine what the authors were talking about, but my favorite part by far was the section dedicated to Real World Applications, as I was able to maneuver myself and really get my hands "dirty", so to speak. The chapter on Troubleshooting was very helpful, as well. No matter what the technology, some troubleshooting will be necessary at some point, so it was great to have a module dedicated to such a matter. I also really appreciated the few warnings throughout the book that noted when something was dangerous. For example, under 'Hands Off Safety System', it reads that "This is [an] extremely dangerous tool. Please check with safety guidelines governing your specific company and country as well." Such things are very important to know, so I was glad to have the forewarnings. My only suggestion - which would raise my rating to 5 stars - is that the authors employ a native English speaker to edit the book, thereby making it flow better. There were a few times that I had to reread sentences, and not just because of the complexity of the matter.Overall, I felt this book was a good learning tool, and I'm proud to know more about PLC Programming now.
