How much length do these rings add? I have 98" door and standard curtain lengths are 96".

They don't add much. Given where a rod is usually placed, you wouldn't get extra length. I used mine for a quilt wall hanging and we placed the rod about an inch and a half above where I wanted the quilt to hang and it was just about perfectly placed.

Can I return if they do not work?

They will not work, just don't buy them, save yourself a problem.

I see a seam do you think I could pry these open to fit them onto another ring?
