I want to take this on a plane to give to my mom in Peru. Should it be taken in my luggage or can I take it in my carry-on?

It could bend but can likely be flexed back. If you put it in luggage I'd put it in a box for added protection

What color is the metal of the black crown? Is it gold or rose gold?

The metal is rose gold, and very nice. I would buy it again.

Does it stay on and is it comfortable?

It is pretty hefty with some weight to it so it does stay on. It also comes with some bobby pins to hold it in place but I haven't had to use those and I've photographed models wearing these crowns in the water, while the wind whips their faces, etc. (you can see some of the pictures on my Facebook or Instagram pages with the same photography name to get a better idea of the conditions.) I would say they're fairly comfortable. You need to be careful about hair getting tangled up in them, though.
