Astronomy for Kids: How to Explore Outer Space with Binoculars, a Telescope, or Just Your Eyes!

I bought this to try and foster some interest in astronomy with my 10 year old daughter. It's hard dragging her away from her ipad!!This book is brilliant. It breaks down the sky into segments. So one night you can go out and find the plough. Then the next night go and find what is next in the book. As well as where to find the features, it also has facts about what you are looking at. Well worth the money.

My grandchildren, aged 5 and 6, have been studying space at school and, like me, have shown an interest in this subject. As we will be holidaying with them shortly in a fairly 'dark sky' area, and at the same time as the Perseid meteor shower, I bought this so that we can have some time together chatting about all things space. The book is great as far as content goes, age relevant, and appropriate for their reading abilities - hence the 4 stars - but I was disappointed to find out that it is an American book, so the grammar and spellings given in some places are not the same as those which they have been taught. Less of a problem if an adult is reading the book to them as we can read it as it should be, but more of a problem when they read it themselves - which the older one certainly will.

The book assumes everyone in the world is American and understands baseball, one of the most boring sports on this planet that no other country bothers with. Despite selling in other parts of the world, the text is still written in Americanised English which is terrible practice for children.

Received tge delivery promptly. The book is very good and as expected. However, when the book was packaged, the rear cover was folded backwards at about 1/4 angle. This left a permanent fold on tge rear cover of the book. This is very disappointing as the book is a present for a grandchild.
