Q: Will this work with a Source brand hydration system? I have the 3L Source used by the military and it has the o-ring style quick connect

The Sawyer Fast Fill Adapter is usually used with the Sawyer Squeeze Water filtration system. I provided a YT address below to show exactly how the FF adapter is meant to work with any hydration bladder.Personally, I prefer the Sawyer 3-Way Inline Water Filter for use with hydration bladders but I think you'll still need an additional male end for the top attachment. Also, consider the Sawyer Mini filter. Each Sawyer Mini @ $20, lighter then the Squeeze or the In-Line, reportedly filters 100,000 gallons. You just slip the ends onto the cut drinking hose without the need for any adapters at all.There are many videos re: this particular topic so best bet is to look around on YT. Q: Does the female quick connect automatically stop water flow when it is disconnected?

No. There is no check valve of any kind in the mail or female end.

Q: Can this be used for the mini filter?

Yes, check the 5-star review from "rick" on May 26, 2015. He has pics of the setup with his Sawyer Mini. It comes up as the first listed review for me.
