What Should Darla Do? Featuring the Power to Choose (The Power to Choose Series) Review: Amazing And Unique Children’s Book! - I’m editing my review since we have now had the book for some time and it is the most loved book in our house. The kids keep coming back to it because of all the fun stories and the fact that they can interact with the book by making decisions. I think this book has shaped their behavior in a positive way and I am so grateful for this. This book is AMAZING! Not only is it fun and interesting but the kids learn something new every time we read it. They love making the different choices and seeing where the story goes. It’s really unlike any other children’s book... other than What Should Danny Do? which got us hooked on these creative books. I’m so glad they came out with another book. Darla is a wonderful character who my kids can really relate to. What I love most is the way the book is really from Darla’s perspective so it is the way a young kid may view the world. I saw another reviewer mention that she didn’t like the way Darla blamed things on her sister, but that is EXACTLY what young kids do. It is not in the heat of her frustration that Darla takes responsibility for her mistakes because that would be unreasonable for a child of her age. It is the fact that she reflects on her days and mistakes that is the true genius of this story. It makes it not only more relatable, but something that we as parents can teach our children and actually expect of them. I LOVE Darla’s interactions with her friends and sister because they’re not always perfect and that is what we as parents are trying to teach our children to navigate in life - dealing with challenges that come our way and making the best decisions possible at each point. This book has changed the behavior of our children for the better because they can relate to Darla’s challenges and the decisions she is faced with. The illustrations are stunning and captivate the kids and making your own choices to see how the story turns out is so much fun! I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a relatable character to help shape behavior in a very positive way. Review: Fantastic Book to Teach about Decisions - If you have the what would Danny books this is the counterpart and it’s a little girl named Darla. She gets to make decisions in the book. The child reads a story or if they are a non-reader you could read the story to them, and then they choose the answer they think is the right decision. You get to go to the page and read about if it’s the right or wrong decision and why. The child also gets to do it again if they want. There are plenty of stories in this book. It would be great for parents, grandparents and teachers. It’s very engaging. I bought the counterpart to these books a few years ago for for my grandson and I bought this book for my granddaughter although these books can be used for both boys and girls. There is also a little poster that you could hang up or even frame for a child’s room or a classroom.

It's helped create context for communicating with my daughter.
My 3 year old daughter loves “What Should Danny Do?”, so we got her “What Should Darla Do?”. I think that the Danny book is easier to grasp as a child than the Darla book but the situations are very good. The art between the two are very different styles, so don’t expect the same book but just for girls if you know the Danny book. My daughter wants to read it every night and I’ll tell you why I think they’re great books. The first is that children seem to love them and the second is a situation which happened with my daughter. It was dinner time and I asked if what she wanted to eat and she didn’t want anything. I began cleaning up the table and found remnants of Pocky sticks and she immediately wanted them. I told her that she needed to eat dinner first and she immediately began screaming with a high pitch at the top of her lungs. With no end in sight, I turned off the TV that she was watching and she reengaged with more vigor. I got her attention for a moment and said “Do you remember your power to choose”. She shook her head “No”. I said “you know how Darla and Danny make good and bad decisions and good and bad things happen?” She nodded her head yes. I asked “Do you think that you’re behaving good?”. She shook her head “No”. I said “You started screaming and would not stop; so, I turned off the TV”. She glanced back at the TV and I asked if she would like some dinner and offered choices. She then ate dinner and returned to a good mood with the situation under control It made the connection for her and I couldn’t be happier with the result. It created a relatable context to build communication if used properly. We let her choose at first, discuss the choice but guide her down different stories from time to time. We ask if she thinks each choice is a good or bad choice and encourage her to “use their words” to the best of her ability…

Girl mom and teachers love this!
We love this book! Would love more from the author! Easy to understand concepts, age appropriate, engaging beautiful pictures and relatable real life circumstances. Helps drive home if you do this, than that is your choice but there will be consequences language that is a parent’s ( and her teachers ) best friend. So helpful in redirecting your little one, and reinforcing positive behavior!! Get this book, would also make a beautiful gift for little ones that love books and story time!

Pretty, but hard to follow for younger readers
The art is beautiful and the lessons are great, but the way each scenario is followed is extremely confusing and the pages and scenarios don't really line up well. The idea is unique though.

A hit for any age!
This book is a hit for any age in elementary school! If you have multiple kids at different ages, they will all like it. Keeps the kids intrigued because it’s interactive. It even inspired me as an adult, hah!

5 yr old favorite
Loved this book! Practical scenarios for my 5 year old. She loves going back in & changing her decisions to create new endings. The illustrations are also above average. We are definitely looking for more books from this author.

Cute read
This is a very cute book my girls range from 3-8 and this book has been a hit. They are very funny because they like to make the “wrong” choices to see we’re all the stories go.

Beautiful book in every way! Quality, content and message. Our daughter will surely enjoy making choices and seeing possible outcomes once she is a little older to understand it. But I love it now!
