Good idea poor implementation
It doesn’t slice all the way to end, there’s always quarter of the clove remains unsliced

Oh with just a little more refinement J&J could have made this a "grate" item!
Bought this to slice garlic and finely grate it as well as other small items like radish.SLICER - Works ok, the slider device is nice so not to slice your fingers off. However the plunger in the holder is smooth, so when you get to the last slice you get a thick slice slide out rather than going through the slicer. Total waste. If they had just moulded some "spikes" into the plunger moulding it would have given more friction and meant you slice all of what your putting through. Other than that the blade seems sharp.GRATER - Oh why did I not believe the reviews that it was so rubbish. I honestly though the comments were being over cooked but they are not.Yep rather than grated you get a mush on the back of the grater. Also your likely to slice the tips of your finger with small items as the sliding device only works on the slider and not the grater. Why did they not just place extra grooves on the back so that the slider could work on the grating side too.- It's just common sense design surely?- Things J&J should know or test out and improve before bunging it out for sale to us?- Hope someone at J&J reads this feedback.

You'll still grate your fingers. Read the reviews before buying!
Like a lot of purchasers, I didn't read the reviews. The holder is only used for the slicing part, not the grating part. I thought I was missing a trick until I went back & read the other reviews.

Disappointing
The guard only works for slicing, not grating (if only I’d read the reviews first!) so the product is pointless as a grater.

Finger guard only for slicing not grating.
I bought this specifically for grating garlic safely using the guard. Unfortunately the guard does not work on the grating side only the slicing side.

Faulty item. Waste of money
The slicing side has a ridge for the grey slider to attach to. The grating side does not rendering the device useless. A faulty item which came in a an already opened box so most likely returned by another customer and fobbed of to me. That awkward price where you want to complain but cant be bothered and dont want to waste your time.
