Interfit Strobies Mini reflector / Beauty dish Without Flex Mount

This unit makes no sense to me. I have been doing wedding photography for the past 35 years and thought this would be a nice enhancement to my backup "light".I was under the impression that the "beauty Dish" was a translucent light diffuser that would, with the reflector, provide a parabolic reflector (i.e. bare bulb, Quantum T5D or Sunpak 120J, etc) type effect.Boy, was I wrong. I set up the Flex mount and clipped on the reflector with the "beauty dish" attached (since that's the way it's packed, to my Nikon speedlight. I fired off a few test shots and all I got was a big round shadow in the middle of my shots.I shot close ups, distance, and everything in between with the same awful results. Then I removed the "beauty dish" to discover that it was opaque metal! That it actually blocks the light output of the flash from reaching your subject. I put the reflector on without the "beauty dish" and can discern no visible change from just using the naked speedlight.Now, perhaps I'm using the unit improperly since there weren't any accompanying instructions. But, as far as I'm concerned, I'm sticking with my  Sto-Fen OMEW Omni-Bounce Diffuser  that I've had for years and provides the effect I want. I shipped that whole Interfit setup right back to Amazon.

I've had this for about a month now, and still not real sure of my conclusion on it. First of all, if you're considering this, you need to make sure that you purchase the Flex Mount, which is not included. The Flex Mount is how you actually will attach this dish to your speedlight. Anyway, this gives me a strong halo, or white vignetting, around my subject. Of course, I'm stil trying to master the flash itself, so I can't really say where the problem lies. So, take that however you may :)

The reflector throws light in an uneven pattern, with a shadow in the center. While the light may be softer, I can only use reflectors with even light distribution. Actually, the small frosted diffuser that came with the strobe does a better job than this device.ADDED: To make better use of this item, I removed the center plate and covered the dish with a cloth sock. It now serves as a mini softbox with soft EVEN light - no center shadow.

Like I said in my review of the Flex Mount (you must have one to use the Beauty Dish), it gives a catchlight like no other modifier. My daughter was so pleased with it she took it home with her!

My daughter is a photography student and finds this dish a very manageable size for her close-up shots. She also likes its light weight. So as long as she likes it, I like it!!

not worth the money, I sent it back due to the harsh lighting effect no matter what power I set my flash to... spend a little more money and buy a 18 - 24 inch beauty dish...

I bought this because I needed a beauty dish for my speedlite, I think it is excellent if you use it outside and with one person, or if you have a couple of extra lights for studio portrait.

, muy bueno, no se porque otros dicen que hace efectos raros de anillos de luz, lo unico malo es que le hace falta una base para colocarlo, la cual se vende a parte, bueno, eso fue mi culpa, por no leer, pero fuera de eso el dish esta increible, salen las fotos muy hermosas, ya solo falta aplicarlo correctamente,
