Rothco Boonie Rip Stop Hat

This is an affordable boonie hat that is durable and breathable. All in all a pretty good hat.

Not as well fitted as my Tru Spec boonie. The Rothco version is shallow enough to rest at least a half inch above the line of my ears. Which feels less secure but also gives enough room to wear my headlamp comfortably. The brim could also be slightly better in the floppiness department. It's stiff broadcloth but the bends are harder to remove or counter. That said, this hat is cooler in the summer heat than all the rest of my boonies just based on having a more breathable fabric and less layers. It's also a few ounces lighter than the rest, making it easier to hang off my neck when not in use. The coloring of the Dark Marine Camo is also fairly nice looking, matching most of my other outdoor gear. Can't find those fun colorways with most of the other manufacturers. I'd maybe also rather that the leather cinch was replaced by a plastic toggle and bead, but that's a pretty minor quibble. Otherwise this hat is entirely work ready, comfortable, durable enough for daily use and a good value for the price.

The Rothco Rip Stop Boonie 7 3/4 size woodland camo is the perfect hat for what I needed. Well made, great heavy duty yet comfortable material, and best of all it actually IS a 7 3/4 size and fits my big old melon head. Very nearly as good a quality as what I use to dig up in surplus stores as a kid, but brand new, even if it is made in China. Extremely comfortable hat, I can't tell you how much better this thing feels on my head than the several other brands I've bought outa box stores over the years. I'll most likely buy a couple in other colors for the heck of it, but I can't imagine wearing this thing out anytime soon, and I'm rough on hats and clothes! Thanks Rothco! Edited to Add: Coming up on 2 years. This is still my everyday hat. Comfortable, looks good, very little wear showing despite me being very hard on hats and clothing. After 2 years it still sheds heavy rain without a hitch, and dries very quickly even when soaked.

As the vendor says it is military grade, yes, it is, authentic, well manufacture. price excellent and delivery saved and fast.

I love it fits well even though it's a bit oversized, it makes it easier to wear a balaclava underneath for colder weather
