It works fine if you have a single monitor. Both ports (HDMI and VGA) will not work at the same time. Plus don't connect a USB-C to HDMI dongle at the USB-C port of the HUB (the video is not passed to it), for me it was useless, since I am not using HDMI or VGA, so if you want to use it as a USB-C connect with your screen will NOT work

This product is a joke and a massive let-down in my opinion. I ordered it to get a 100% compatible HDMI connection for my Surface Pro 7. I have a much cheaper Ugreen product which can do it, but sometimes has connection issues with my monitor. It works like a charm compared to the Microsoft Hub wich can not get a signal to my TV. The USB C port on the hub can't charge the Surface Pro but it takes the only USB-C port on the device. Which engineer thought up that nonsense? It can barely do anything and the biggest feature, the HDMI port does not seem to work - I tried two different cables. I tried my old UGreen hub and voila, not a problem. C'mon Microsoft....that is an Apple move. They purposfully took features away as to not threaten the much more expensive dock 2. This product serves pretty much not real purpose. My advice: buy much cheaper 3rd party and try those first.

I used it to connect HDMI to a tv and it worked great. Just plug it in to the USB-C port on my surface pro 7 and then the HDMI cable and you're all set. Well designed and built with high quality. It should probably last longer than the surface.

I have a Surface X which has limited connections (i.e. only USB-C). I have the Surface Dock 2 that I used for multiple USB (a/c) as well as HDMI connections to multiple monitors and external drives. Unfortunately I did not have access to the Surface Dock 2 and was in a bind so ordered this because I did not want to invest another $100 bucks beyond the cost of the travel hub. I use it primarily for connecting to an external USB-A connections on an as needed basis (the full size I used all the time without issues). I have not tried the VGA or Ethernet connections on this particular model. Based on my usage, I have not experienced the over heating or connection issues (with other types of connections) that have been expressed in some of the other reviews.

Pequeno e funcional.

Powerful I was so nervous to bought this because it’s pricey for a hub. I try many 20$ hub but everything bug out the laptop surface (I got the 3) or wasn’t good enough for Ethernet or output monitoring. This one worth every penny. It’s a true plug and play. The only down side is no charge from USBc but not a problem at all. This feel really heavy duty I recommend it
