Good budget fish finder
This is actually a very good fish finder for the price. It's depth readings are pretty accurate and it does pick up shoals of fish (whether they want to feed or not is a different matter!) I do find the signal sometimes breaks down between the sonar and receiver, but a little tug on the sonar, or lifting the receiver up a bit seems to reinstate it. The antenna is very fragile, but otherwise not bad at all. Battery life is very good too.

Works for my needs
I was actually looking for a sonar rather than a fish finder. I wanted to measure depth of the lakes and ponds when we are boating with kids.It does not work without water, so i could not test it at home. The sonar just does not transmit any signal. Funny is that it does transmit signal without water when it's connected via USB cable to a computer (or maybe charger). Anyhow, in air it does not show anything meaningful. So I had to wait for the next trip to water. It does not reliably show depth in water shallower than 1 meter. It does work well on deeper ponds or lakes. We swam in ponds and it was showing different depth which was looking quite reasonable. It ranged from 2 to 6 meters. It also showed fish presence. Sometimes a lot. But since fish location was closer to the bottom of the pond, there was no way to see if there was fish indeed or not. I know only that people did do fishing in those ponds. It measures water temperature which also looks reasonable and convenient. One pond showed 7-8C, another 19C.I attached it to our boat and didn't really measure distance at which it works. When it's close, it works with no antenna. When it's a few meters away, antenna needs to be expanded. The water does not get into the sonar (yellow sphere) if properly closed. The receiver isn't waterproof, so it needs water protection (under rain or if accidentally falls into water). It has a strip and can be worn on one's neck.Battery life appears to be good. Both have built in batteries. I used it a couple of times for roughly two hours each. It shows more than half charge left in both sonar and receiver. Looks like it should last for 8-10 hrs at least.Visibility might be not that great under bright sun, but other than that, I'm quite satisfied.

Easy to use and compact
Took it ice fishing, it sporadically give a depth reading. My guess is it catches the edges of the fishing hole.I keep it in my jacket (can't leave it out in the cold) the battery will crash until warm again.Great light device, can't wait for the lakes to thaw and try it next to the boat.

As described, works well for the price
Overall seems to work good. Trolled for hours, no drop in the battery. Easy to use, easy to read and understand. Exactly as the description says. My only tiny irk with the product is the actual sonar doesn't want to turn off sometimes. But it ended up staying on all night and was still ready to roll the next morning. Now if only I could catch all the fish I marked! Lol
