A show-stopping, must-have for every book shelf
Set in urban Somerville, Mass (a neighborhood in Boston) this is a book with so much gorgeous nuance it's tough to know where to begin. There are so many things happening in all of the windows it's a veritable goldmine for curious kids (and adults!) who like to discover something new upon repeated readings. A little boy tastes a bit of independence walking his dog around the neighborhood - a diverse mix of homes, apts., shops and parks. The sun sets gorgeously, progressing with each page turn, and the economy of text is thoughtful and warm. And don't miss the case cover (under the jacket), just a gorgeous wash of sunsetting color.

What a beautiful book depicting urban life
My 3 yo son loves this book. It highlights intriguing concepts for little ones - windows, doors, light and dark. Lots to look at. He says, "lots of different things going on in all the apartments!" Quickly became one of his faves for sure. The illustrations are beautiful.

Beautiful illustrations, sweet, simple storyline.
One of the most gorgeous picture books I’ve seen in a long time. The story is sweet, simple, easy enough for my two-year-old to follow and enjoy, but lyrical enough for an adult to enjoy reading as well

Great content, paper too thin and hard
I absolutely LOVE the illustrations and the whole content of the book and my little one also seems to take interest in it. However, the paper is rather hard and thin that I could never leave the book with my baby alone to avoid a paper cut. It would be great to see the book in a more kiddo-friendly option such as a board book.

Transports you
This is a lovely book. One of my favorite things is peeking into businesses and homes right when it starts to get dark. You can see how they decorate and its a little window into their lives. This book celebrates that wonderful time of day in the city, as people return home from work and attend classes or cook dinner. The dog was a particular hit with my girls. They liked to see what he was doing on each page. The end made me cry...so that says something about the way it tells you a story.

Absolutely beautiful
A pithy, poetic, and moving depiction of urban life through a child's eyes. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and captivate my kids' attention with engaging details and recognizable streetscapes. Rich and wonderful.
