PENGUIN The Inner Darkness

Having enjoyed many of Horst's books I looked forward to this publication. Unfortunately, I do not feel this title was of the standard found in previous offerings. Wisting is a well formed character and central to the previous titles. His daughter Line has, in my view, unfortunately been given a greater role in the title. Having watch the excellent BBC television series ( well Norwegian TV series) one can only think that this book was written with a television series in mind. Line is on at least two occasions depicted naked but neither occasion really add anything to the story. Stiller remains an unsatisfactory and undeveloped character although appearing in other titles. The pattern of a previous title is repeated in the story line which is rather cliched. I would prefer a Wisting title that focussed on him, Hammer and his team solving a new crime. Horst is undoubtedly a good crime writer but this work is not his best.

Another fabulous story from Jørn Lier Horst. Could not put it down. The author get you gripped to his books until the end. I lovr Wisting, he is such a fabulous character. What I like about the story it is never so predictable. The translation of it is fabulous. I have read most of Jørn Lier Horst book and I can't honestly get enough. He is definitely my top author in crime novels.

This was a beautifully written story and I love his books! The only criticism I would make would be the inclusion of the daughter which is slightly unbelievable and doesn't work very well. That said, he is a great character and the plots are well structured and I very rarely know whodunnit until near to the end which is great in a thriller. Looking forward to the next book by this author.

I love this author, you never know what’s coming next, so it never gets predictable. A really enthralling read, highly recommended.

I watched the tv version of this series but the book does not disappoint, the characters are interesting and the plot clever.
