I use 50# flouro leader with 65# braid and a barrel swivel. Biggest fish so far 42” Bull and a 19lb Amber Jack.

will this catch catfish ?

Absolutely it can handle Catfish, with a 5000 or 6000 series spinning reel and the right line you will have no problem handling the largest Catfish.

Would this be a good rod for 40lb to 60lb line?

Yes i run 60lbs mono on one and 90 lbs braid on the other
