Authentic, Written with great clarity. A treat!
Long overdue, this book is not only a treat for a foodie global population, it is heritage in a book for countless Kannadigas. I am from the Mysore region of Karnataka, my parents and extended family straddling the hills and plains of South Karnataka (Malnad, Coorg, Bangalore, Mysore). What can I say we are a food obsessed people.....no sooner is a wedding matched, the first order of business is to locate the best Wedding Chef! I personally own over 60 cookbooks, and cook global. I have worked on an International cookbook for my daughter's french school, and have long yearned to put one together for my state. Or at least, to find one. This book is GREAT. Even though there are differences from my family's regional foods, they are minor. More or less, Karnataka basics are covered. Well explained, and I like that the proportions are clear. In the introduction, Geetha says that her mother had written down 175 recipes, but could only use 100. Now I am most interested in the remaining 75 :) Highly recommend for anyone interested in one of Karnataka's superb cuisines!

Awesome recipes
I was surprised to find a book which caters to my roots of coastal Karnataka. I loved all the recipes in there. My only complaint is about lack of pictures of what the final product should look like. The book has very few pictures. I personally don't expect super glossy pictures for all recipes as I know how most of that looks like but for someone who doesn't know how the final product should look like this would be a deal breaker.

Expected more varieties. Not up to my expectations
This book is not for South Indians from different states like Tamil Nadu , Telugu as this book has very basic recipes mostly common in all southern states of India. So, nothing special and I expected some more recipes and varieties while purchasing.

This is the cookbook I've been looking for forever--traditional South Indian food, but with exact measurements and detailed instructions. For example: "In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine jaggery and 1/2 cup of water and cook for about 3 minutes, on low heat, till it becomes slightly sticky." All the dishes I've cooked so far have been delicious!
