Great Knife sharpening kit
Blade sharpening Kit—I have now used the sharpening kit three times and have sharpened over a dozen blades (knives and cutting tools). I feel that I can fairly comment on the product. It is extremely helpful having the range of grit sizes—400, 1000, 3000, and 8000. Much of my sharpening, especially for tools (e.g., pruning shears), I only used the 400/1000 stone. If you are starting with a rather dull blade, you need the courser 400 grit—that stone will remove most of the metal material to achieve a sharp edge, otherwise it will take forever to sharpen the blade with the finer grit stones. Sharpening blades/knives is an acquired skill and improves with practice—finding the right pressure to apply, the right (and consistent) angle to hold the blade against the stone, and the best motion to guide the blade across the stone. If it is your first time sharpening, be patient, you will develop the “knack” after a few attempts. (Watching a Youtube video on blade sharpening can be very helpful). One of the most common mistakes, in my opinion, is prematurely jumping from a coarser grit to a finer grit. The coarser grit stones give you the sharp edge, the finer grit stones polishes the edge to razor sharpness. These stones seem to hold up well and have uniform consistency throughout. For the amount of sharpening I do in a normal household, I expect these stones to last me a lifetime. Having the additional items of the silicone stone holder and bamboo base, and the “dressing stone” to keep the sharpening stones smooth and level, and the leather strap to give the final edge polish is a great plus. The angle guide that comes with the set is useful to get a feel for the best angle to use when sharpening, but I quickly abandoned it once I had a feel for the technique. (An unintended use I found was that the 8000 grit works well for sharpening rotary blades in men's Norelco razors!) I highly recommend the product from my experience with it so far.

Amazing value! Don’t waste money on anything else.
This is an amazing value compared to other options, most of which are the exact same product except with fancier marketing and a higher price tag. After watching a few videos on YouTube, I was able to sharpen our dull chefs knife to razor sharpness. Using a wheat one of any kind requires skill and technique but with some practice it is really not difficult to learn and the motions are quite intuitive. It’s mostly about feel and making sure you follow the angle of your knifes edge. Another tip is to make sure you run the entire length of the stone so if the stone does wear out over time it does so evenly. This is truly an amazing value considering you get 4 grit sizes, plus a bamboo base, plus a flattening stone, plus an angle guide (which I honestly didn’t use), and the leather strop. The whole point of buying a whetstone is to sharpen knives which I was successful in accomplishing so honestly don’t see a reason to buy anything more expensive.

Highly recommended
It worked very well. It is easy to use, and it put a very good edge on my knives. The angle guide was not helpful to me. It was a bit awkward to use. Otherwise, it is a fine product.

Love this knife sharpener kit!
This kit comes with everything I need to keep my knives sharpened. I had been wanting to learn how to sharpen my knives for quite some time but did not know where to start. My brother in law had purchased these stones a bit ago and he highly recommended I give them I try. They arrived promptly and came with a nice bamboo stand. I like that the grit numbers are clearly marked on each stone and the instructions were clearly written and included pictures which I found to be very helpful. The price was great and I am happy I made this purchase! The stone set is of good quality and I appreciate the angle guide provided - which was helpful for learning how to use them. For the first time in my adult life I have sharp knives in my home!

Good sharpening stones at a great price
The Bamboo base is solid and sturdy, with a rubber mat on the bottom to prevent slipping. The stones themselves each come with a rubber stopper to keep them from shifting around within the bamboo base. The angle guide is easy and intuitive to use, but you probably won't need it once you get the muscle memory of exactly what angle you need. The flattening stone is a good solid chunk. The strop works well to hone. All in all, a great price for a great product. If you've been looking at sharpening stones, you know that just one finer grit stone will cost you more than all of this put together, so it's worth it just on the basis of that. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Great set of stones for sharpening needs.
I’ve only used this on a few knives so far. This set of sharpening stones is pretty great. Manual sharpening is much better for knives than using an electric sharpener. The different grit stones really put a nice edge on my knives. The leather strop is a nice addition to finish the sharpening. The wooden block has a rubber bottom that stays put when sharpening as long as there isn’t a lot of water underneath. There is also a rubber base to place the stones in so they don’t move while in the base.I haven’t used the angle accessory, but it seems like a good idea. I also haven’t tried the levelling stone as I don’t need it quite yet.Overall, I am quite satisfied with my purchase and recommend them to anyone needing to sharpen their knives.

Great value, but they should ship it inside a shippingbox.
Great value, not so great packaging. They sent it in a completely unpadded bag. The product is well wrapped within the box, but that's not enough. Mine arrived with the 400 grit Stone chipped. One end fell off the cardboard box, which probably contributed to the damage. But the stones still work fine. The stones are 2 and 3/8 in by 7 in.
