Favorite tortoise bedding
I’ve never used for plants but have read plenty enough that if I were to plant I would use. I have recommended this kind and use this kind when I am buying to have extra bedding on hand for my baby sulcatas. Seems to hold moisture pretty well. Easy to mix and use.

Good product
This is a good product and is great in my seed starting mix, but I will say this is definitely more difficult to use than the ready made stuff. That’s kind of a given, but it’s definitely added a lot of time to my process because I don’t need the whole brick. I broke off some smaller bits (difficult to do) because I really didn’t want to get the whole thing wet if I’m not using it. If you have a larger project then I don’t think you’ll have as much of an issue, but it’s still a chore to try to get it all to soften. It’s not instant. It’s a space saver though and also more cost effective.

Does not hydrate, too fibrous
This coco coir does not hydrate and is extremely fibrous. If you follow the instructions and put a brick in 4-5 quarts of warm water nothing happens. You have to break it up before you hydrate and then keep it in the water for 24+ hours. Even then you will be working it by hand because ZeeDix does not break the husks down very much. This is not a fine pulp, it is still fibrous. If you go through the effort of breaking it down so it will go into seedling trays it still does not absorb much water. With other brands I have to really squeeze the coco coir to get the water out. With ZeeDix it does not absorb any water so you just squeeze it once and you are done. This might sound like a plus but it is not. You can feel how rough it is as you mix in the perlite and vermiculite. Buy another brand and save yourself the hassle. The people giving this 5 starts must have never used another brand of coco coir.
