Read Everything Dr. Cummings Writes, it Will Make You a Better Psychiatrist
I would read anything Dr. Cummings writes. This man is pure gold for the early career psychiatrist looking to separate themselves from the pack. He has in-depth knowledge of treatment resistant psychotic disorders, a strong understanding of the psychopharmacology, and deep understanding of the context/history of medication design. If you work in the inpatient setting like I do, these cases are commonplace. We are always looking for solutions to complex treatment resistant psychotic disorders. This book will help you make management decisions that are evidence based and improve clinical outcomes. Each chapter is organized well, and not too long for the busy clinician.

Great book. Highly worth it to dig into if you treat psychosis.
Very happy to review this book. It is very well written. Many excellent tables and figures. Many clinical pears. Shows the hard work of Dr. Cummings and his decades of experience treating psychosis. Dr. Cummings is someone who comes on the Psychiatry & Psychotherapy Podcast often and is very wise. I hope he continues to spread his wisdom.

Dr. Cummings is the BEST in the business (psychiatry)
Very informative book! I've learned more from his book than I've learned working with the same psychiatrist for 7 years. Sad, but true. Best book ever!!! 5-stars!!!!!!! ❤️

Good Information for how to treat difficult psychotic symptoms
This is a most excellent summary and guide by the foremost experts in the field describing how to treat patients with psychotic disorders that have not responded to more simple treatment regimens. The chapters are concise and most of all very helpful for those who treat this challenging population.

mediocre
This book kinda disappointed me especially in areas of blood levels. It doesnt say more clearly about when is the blood is drawn for antipsychotics levels. because some meds are given twice a day ( Ziprasidone and some given generally in am like aripiprazole or cariprazine). That raises the question whether the trough level is 24 hrs after last dose or 12 hrs. Also I have question whether giving twice a day influences blood level as opposed to once a day. Also what about lamotrigine, Divalproex and other conventional stabilizers whats their trough levels should be (ER vs DR versions).I have read several books of Dr Stahl like essentials of psychcopharm and prescribers guide etc. I love essentials of psychocopharm so my expectations were higher.
