Colorful and Cute, easy for small birds to use and easy to us to clean and fill
Very colorful and cute, I love how they brighten things up! Birds took to them right away and filling them is super easy. I use sunflower seeds in the shell, one may fall out on its own every now and then but not enough to make a mess so that was a plus. Birds don't have any problems plucking them out at all. Bigger birds like Mockingbirds or Starlings may try to land on them but they struggle a good bit and don't have much luck so they're not too much of a problem. It's a breeze for smaller birds. I'm not sure that I would hang them out in the elements for extended periods, although they could hold up well enough. I keep mine just under the roof of my deck. They would make a great gift too! I would buy again.

Cute but not squirrel proof
These are very adorable and colorful bird feeders but they are not squirrel proof. I wish vendors would stop claiming their product is squirrel proof when they are not. Even black oil sunflower seeds will fall out of these so be prepared for critters to gather on the ground.

Excellent for smaller birds and close proximity to the house!
These little feeders are spectacular!I wanted something that would hang right outside my breakfast room window so that I could watch the birds while I have my coffee on the weekends. I didn't want anything too big. Just something to attract some of the smaller, more colorful finches.Because the chain makes the height adjustable, the feeders work perfectly with my fancy 4 ft plant hanger poles. We put a seed mix of black oil, mealworms, suet balls, and mixed smaller seeds in each ball and, a week later, there are flocks of birds fighting over these feeders every morning!Of course, the squirrels come, too. And there's not much we can do about them. But they have not been able, so far at least, to destroy these little metal mesh feeders. So that's a plus.Overall, the effect in my backyard is utterly wonderful, and I am so pleased with how these worked. I may get some more for outside my sunroom.

Cute little bird feeders
When it comes to bird feeders, you always have to assume that there is no such thing as squirrel proof no matter what the feeder claims. So going beyond that, the birds seem to like them. These are good for birds that can grip onto something, like nuthatches, woodpeckers, chickadees, wrens. Birds like cardinals, finches, and mourning doves, who are perchers, cannot use them. But I knew that going in. These are great for sunflower seeds and peanuts. The pretty colors add a nice touch to my garden. They are relatively sturdy, made of metal and should withstand assaults by squirrels and winter weather. I've been using them for a couple months and so far so good.

Not sure about squirrel-proof but definitely NOT rodent-proof
I was so excited about these after reading the reviews and thought I’d get this for my balcony and my cat would also finally be able to entertain himself by watching birds. These are good looking and felt very sturdy. I can’t complain about the quality of the materials. They are also very pretty! So they make good gifts and present well. But there are also some fatal problems.1. You can’t use seed mix for these because the holes are very big. I’m new to bird feeding so I didn’t know better. Got a bag of small seed mix and only to find they will be spread all over the place. So, I tried again with black sunflower seed. And the next problem occurs.2.the holes are a bit too large for black sunflower seeds too! It was able to hold more than if I were to use small seeds. But if there’s any wind, the sunflower seed would easily fall through the holes. In the short distance between my kitchen and my balcony, I’ve spilled the sunflower seed along the track. I mean, I imagine it would be easy for the birds to get them then? But just be aware... your seeds might go waste if you are in a windy area.3. This is a deal breaker.... I guess I should have known better? But it attracted rodents and was definitely not rodent proof. I mean, my cat loved it. How I noticed was that my cat started to go crazy about the window area right in front of the feeder AT NIGHT. He was watching something fervently. I was thinking- hm... what birds come to eat at night? And one night when I watched more closely - voila, it’s a mouse!!! The mouse itself is very cute and I wouldn’t mind it if it doesn’t bring viruses and bacteria... but this is too close to home... I guess the mouse was small enough to be able to climb onto this even if it’s hanging. And gosh, did the mouse have a feast... I think it looked bigger than the last time I saw him probably because of the late-night dinners he’s been having over the past few days from the feeder! So the feeder does feed well but you are probably gonna expect some unwelcome guests!I ended up having to throw this mouse-infested feeder away; just didn’t want to risk it. I’m returning to my window feeder even though it doesn’t really attract many birds. So the takeaway from my experience - big no no if you know you have rodents around...
