it isn't just for apples you know.
I asked my sister-in-law for an apple corer while at her house. This is what she brought out. My husband, super tech guy, couldn't wait to get his hands on it. Was turning apples faster than we could get them to him. Then we started turning other things. A little back ground information is needed here: I bought the book Inspiralized and waited patiently for a spiralizer to go on sale. Used a julienne peeler in the mean time. Bought a Sur La Table Spiralizer for about 50% off regular price. Had an amazing good time making zoodles (zucchini ribbons). The Spiralizer didn't work so good on apples and it almost broke on a sweet potato. I took that plastic apparatus back pouting; it was very fun to make the zoodles. My very own Pampered Chef Apple Peeler/Corer/Slicer (PCS) arrived at my house, bought for me by my husband. He knew I was pouting about the Spiralizer - he saw the face. I had the PCS working on apples, zucchinis, sweet potatoes, and more. When he got home he adjusted the peeler blade's gap and started his own pile of food slinkys. He was more more adept, at first, in mounting apples for better coring line up. He would line the apple up with the circular cutting blade, disengage the rod, spike the apple, and then back the apple up so the peeler would start before the corer/slicer part started its business. Hardly took a moment longer. Grandma would have been so proud.P.S, the curly sweet potato fries were great. Make "coins" out of the sweet potato core - kids will dig them.

Replacement for a worn-out peeler
My wife makes some of the best apple pies. She bought her original Pampered Chef Peeler well over ten years ago, and she would not want to make an apple pie without one. It is easy to use and produces uniform slices that produce great pies. From what I can tell the design hasn't changed over the years. It was good then, and still good today. The last time she used it, she mentioned there was some light rust and the peeler was getting hard to use. I suspect the blade was getting dull. I got online and found this exact replacement. Typical of Amazon Prime, it was delivered quickly. While this is a device you can do without, once you own one, I doubt you will regret the purchase.

Thoroughly Happy ! !
I ordered the peeler/corer/slicer because I previously had the same and found it the most spectacular kitchen aid for making apple pies. I eagerly looked forward to it's arrival. However, I have not been able to adjust the peeler properly. It eats up all the apple meat. I have tried many times to adjust the cutter, to no avail. I have read the directions countless times, but I cannot get it to operate properly. So, I peel the apple and then place it in the corer/slicer. That part works, but it is time consuming. Any suggestions to get optimum service? I'm outdone. I never had this problem before and I have owned three other apple peeler/corer/slicers. When I purchased the others, I never really had to adjust the peeler, I just started cranking it up after assembling. I make delicious apple pies, which I share with others, but I certainly have been hampered by this dilemma. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?Update - - 3/10/14 Well I was so eager to use the appliance that I failed to adjust the peeler properly, until last week. Since then, apple pies have been coming out the oven frequently. Ummmmm good ! ! I am estatic ! ! I am indebted to Pampered Chef for such a wonderful apparatus ! Forgive me for being impatient and not taking the time to properly adjust the peeler. Shame on me ! : (

Great! Did the job. Could be all stainless.
I make apple sauce, apple butter, apple pie, strudel...you name it every fall when the harvest is in. This year I purchased the Pampared Chef Apple peeler corer slicer to help me get through the 147lbs of apples I had sitting on my floor. I did a bunch of research and found this model.I can say it works wonderfully. Having a vise grip on the bottom and not a suction cup is key. After about 10 apples there's a puddle of apple juice under the tool, so I imagine a suction cup wouldn't work well. It's easy to use. Softer apples can be tricky, but I've found that you can place a finger on the spring-loaded peeler to add a little resistance so it doesn't cut so deep into the apple flesh. I mean, when I'm preparing 30lbs of apples at a time for sauce....it's a two handed affair anyway. When I go to slice the spiral-cut apples in half, I inspect for seed parts and do some quality control. It's not a perfect tool, but it does a very good job. If you want to eat an apple...go ahead and hand cut. But for more than 5-6 apples, I'll pull this tool out of the closet. I like the thin slices for pie. You get a denser pie.My one complaint: The materials. It's part stainless, part aluminum. After a few apples, when the juice begins to flow, the metal parts that rub against each other create this black metal paste that can get messy. And it's certainly not anything I want in my food! It's mostly confined to the threads on the long screw to which you attach the apple. I keep a wet rag and wipe it down every 10 apples or so. It wasn't hard to keep the apples out of it....but still. When it comes to food, use only food safe materials. Uncoated aluminum is unacceptable. I would definitely have paid $10-$15 more for an all stainless model.

Apple chip makin' machine
Clamped seriously tight to a 3/4 richlite cutting board over our sink (to catch juice runoff). Came almost fully assembled, just had to screw on handle knob. Very stable, no wobbling at all, churned out apple rings like a champ. Way easier to use and more fun than expected. Sliced thin enough to allow us to dehydrate a ton of apple chips. Can't wait to try potatoes.

It worked very well!
I liked that it had a clamp instead of suction cup and it was well built. It worked flawlessly.
