Honeywell HFD280 Compact Air Genius 4 Air Purifier with Permanent Washable Filter, Medium Rooms (150 sq. ft.), Black

I noticed a difference in air quality the first day. My nose and sinuses almost totally cleared after a week. I'm using the washable filter only. I live next to a highway, next to a dirty parking lot and across the street is a swampy lake that smells and has geese droppings everywhere. My nose felt like it had cotton stuffed up there all the time. (I never suffered from allergies or sinus before, but they have been getting worse every year after age 60). I bought a new vacuum cleaner thinking that would help. It helped the rug a lot, but not much at all for my breathing. It cleans the air in my living room dining room really well. Very silent on night mode. I wish I had bought it sooner.

Great product I already had 2 Honeywell air purifiers already.Make sure and get WASHABLE AIR FILTERS.Wash every 2 months or so takes 5 minutes and let completely dry before reinstalling.THIS WILL SAVE YOU approx. $50.00 each time. I,ve had the 1st 2 units at least 12 years and use daily. LOVE HONEYWELL!!

Came back to buy these because they don't need to have the expensive HIPA filters replaced all the time. I don't know how effective they are, probably less than the HIPAs, but better than nothing at all. They are easy to clean. We have air purifiers all over the house and the furnace also filters the air, so we have air as clean as you can get. I bought these for the terapists' offices we lease out across town. They have mini-splits with filters so it's not the only filtering that's in the rooms.

I like the design of the unit. It looks modern and you do not need to buy filters. This unit is silent unless it is running on max setting. On max it sounds as loud as a small desk top fan. It is a powerful fan for its size, so I might save money on ac next summer. As for cleaning the air, that is hard to verify really. I have noticed the house smells different but to be honest. I only bought one unit which can only clean one room and the area is open from room to room. It would take three at least to handle downstairs. So the house does not smell like it just rained but cooking odors go away faster. I did not notice any smell(nose blind probable) before and still don't. I think there is less dust on the tables in the room. I am happy with it so far, may buy two more eventually. Hope this helps you make a choice.

It's crazy to think, but it's absolutely true that this air purifier has been life changing not only for myself but also my son. My entire life, I've been breathing through one nostril. My son too is always congested. Our home is spotlessly clean. Within a week of purchasing this purifier, (and I do run it with the charcoal filter) both my son and I have been able to breathe freely through both nostrils. That's not just a matter of convenience, my running and stamina have improved and as proof my VO2 level (volumetric oxygen my lungs can absorb) from my fitness tracker has increased by 10 percent. It all sounds too good to be true, but if you've been on the border trying to decide, just do it. I would not buy another machine because this has a washable filter, and the regular fan speed consumes 4 watts, dleep 2 watts, so it really costs nothing to run versus other machines that you have to buy expensive filters and consume 10 to 15 times more electricity multiplied by 24/7/365. If there's something I'd change on this machine as a manufacturer, I would have a memory setting for the last fan speed before powering off and get rid of the useless brightness function and just supply dim lights. Relax. Breathe in. Breathe out. Enjoy your new life.

I bought it for the washable filter and I like that part of it but it’s just two computer fans sitting in front of a paper filter. I felt like I could build this thing better than it was made with junk I have sitting around my house. I have no clue how this could be considered to be worth $140. Very cheaply made. Reeked of plastic.

Love this air purifier! Within minutes, I could tell the crisp fresh air surrounding me. It’s been a blessing to me! I highly recommend this product!

I'd give it zero if possible. I had purchased the larger model previously and it is amazing! that being said the HFD280 has to be run on high in a 9x9 room and still does a poor job, is extremely noisy and does little to enhance air quality. Forget this one and purchase the HFD320.
