Advice from a photojournalist . . .
I've been a photojournalist for over 35 years and probably covered a couple of hundred house/apartment disasters. (Yes, these are my photos of an actual rescue.) Firefighters and EMS WILL try to save pets in the event of a catastrophe--but they have to know the pet is missing (it will be hiding). You many not be home or capable of telling anyone, so it is a real good idea to post these or similar pet stickers. These "Pet Inside Finder Stickers" are attractive and easily readable, but small enough that they aren't obnoxious. You need to use a Sharpie to write on the slick surface. Put one by the front door and one by the back/patio doors--these are the entry points for emergency personnel.Do the responsible thing--take care of your furry babies.

Fire Department Feedback
I got these stickers because I am fire paranoid about my pets being home with no human in the house during an emergency. I put them on the front and back doors and sent a picture to my husband. My husband was not thrilled about random strangers knowing how many dogs we have, but especially what my phone number is. I called the fire department to ask if the sticker would be helpful. They told me that they will search for both humans and animals in any fire. They said even if we are here and outside and say all humans and pets are out and safe, they will continue to search for both humans and animals inside regardless. Long story short they said the sticker is not helpful and probably just revealing info to people that might have other motives. I left the stickers on the back doors but removed them from the front. Three stars is because of the fire department feedback but also even with a brand new sharpie it doesn’t write well on the sticky surface, if placing on interior of a window. Might give you peace of mind but know that the fire department will search for pets whether you have a sticker or not.

Pet-Safety Must Have
I live in an old apartment building that has functional wood-burning fire places. When I lit my first fire this winter my poor cat ended up hiding in my closet for several hours. This caused me to worry that she wouldn't try to escape, or that she would be hard to find in the event that the building caught fire or there was some other emergency. So, I decided to purchase these stickers to place on my front door so that any first-responders know that my fur-baby needs to be rescued. I was able to easily write on the surface of this product and I included my phone number as well as a note that my cat often hides in the closet. This sticker applied easily to my front door, and is extremely visible upon approach. I was so pleased with this product that I gave my extra stickers to my neighbors who also have pets! So far mine has been on my front door for about a week, and we've had pretty heavy winds, rain, and now snow with temperatures ranging from the mid 50's to the low 20's and it is still stuck to my door securely!

Make sure you can change the number of pets when you need to
Havent even tried them yet, giving five stars because great idea. However there may be times i might have just one dog in the houseOr both may not be home or both may be home. So what ill do is write maybe one or both are home, and alternate the stickers. So I wont be sticking them on but just placing on my window with tape. And if both dogs are out wont need to put stickers. As for my phone number dont want anyone just getting my number, but because i have an alarm system, ill just write alarm company will call me, since my alarm also has fire smoke detection. But it is a good idea if you could make it larger and we can erase the instruction part when we need to change the number of dogs at home.Dont want the fire dept looking for dogs if both are not home, dont want to compromise their safety either. Also I bought for several families, but alot of them board their pets when they go on vacation, so dont know how they will use the stickers.Again wont be sticking mine on just taping them on when I need to use them or stand them up somehow against the window or door.

Some difficulty with removal of clear front adhesive cover sheet
Like that it has provision for the number of pets, of different kinds (including "other"). Very well designed layout for emergency personnel to read quickly and accurately. Back adhesive (for application to exterior of solid doors) very strong.Front adhesion (for inside of glass window or door) is contact vinyl.Removal of backside backing is relatively easy. Frontside clear film is very difficult. Also, this film should be removed before writing on the front with a marker or pen, and then reapplied if it will be the exterior surface, otherwise the front will be tacky and may collect dust. If application is to the inside of a window, the backing is rather unsightly and peels off rather easily. In this case, backing sheet can be removed and the clear film from the front can be saved to apply to the sticky back surface. This gives an additional benefit in that light will now shine through the decal from the inside of the house, increasing its visibility.

Pet Finder stickers are purrrfect!!!
I really love my new stickers! I have put one on my front door, as well as my rear sliding door. I am sending two out to my daughter in SoCal and this is SO important out there with the recent earthquakes! We have one dog, Brody living here, and 6 cats in total, so in the event of any unforeseen emergency, it's great that there is something to notify emergency workers to be aware of pets on the premises! Ollie, Looie, Minnie, Princess, Keegan and Kimble are a little bit safer with these Pet Finder stickers on my doors! These stickers are great insomuch as you can remove the adhesive from the front or the back for interior or exterior posting. The only downside is when using the adhesive on the front, for interior applications, the sticker paper on the back is just that...just the reverse side of printed sticker paper. Once I applied the sticker, I removed that paper, tho the rear is "sticky" now. Would be good if the printer paper had a cute pet design, or was simply solid white or with something on it so when applied inside, you would see a cute design vs. white sticker paper with red markings. But..they do the job and I am very pleased with the quality for the price!!! :)
