Gourmet Malt, Vinegar, 12 Fl Oz

I have never had malt vinegar. But I kept seeing it being used in this sitcom we watch, that is from Ireland, and they'd use malt vinegar on their fish and chips (fries) ALL of the time. So I had to get some and try it too! We fried up some flounder and had some nice thick steak fries with the fish, and the malt vinegar was splashed on everything, and it was great!! It's like you'd expect, vinegar-y, but not too strong. And it has the malt-y flavor that complements it nicely. I would suggest trying a bit on the chip first and see how you like it. I happen to like yellow mustard on my fries. Or mayo--that's my fav. But not ketchup so much. So now I can add malt vinegar to my list of likes! It comes in a nice size bottle, trust me, you won't be using much of it up in a meal. I was shocked at how we were splashing it constantly on everything, yet, there wasn't much gone! It does comes with a spout that has a tiny hole in it, so a dash or drop shoots out, and that's about it. You won't overdo it. But it's perfect, and lovely, and I can't wait to try it again!!

Malt vinegar has been at our table for fries and other things since before I was born. Over the years I've learned they there can be a wide range of flavors from one brand to the next, just like with coffee or wine. This one is better than the popular brand sold in our local markets and unfortunately they are only selling one brand now. I guess malt vinegar is an acquired taste and not that many people have it. Getting it here was about the same price per bottle as the lessor quality brand that our stores sell. From there you're on your own, reading how it tastes to someone else is useless, the only way to know if you will like it is to try it and if you like it keep on ordering it, and if not, don't.

Heinz is very good malt vinegar, and I especially like the little spout on top so you don't pour too much at one time over your food. Unlike another brand I've bought that doesn't, and you have to be so careful not to over-pour.

Delicious and I go through a lot of it. It has a great flavor for the price, which in America is about 1/4 the price of the imported "authentic" brit brands.

The nicest malt vinegar for me is Sarson's, so I had to really search around when I could not get it any more. I was delighted to find Heinz tasted so good. There are other makes as well, but they all seemed very expensive - Especially for what is just white vinegar with a little caramelized sugar added I was told. A lot of people do not seem to ever been told that it is lovely on potatoes. Boiled, fried, mashed - however you eat potatoes, you can sprinkle vinegar over them, then sprinkle the salt. The vinegar just adds a little tangyness to the food. That is why it is added to hot sauces. I even add vinegar to my soup and salad, just do not add it to anything like potato chips as those will go soggy. If you are real hardcore, try a little on pizza, especially if it has meat of any kind. You can buy pickled beets and even pickled eggs.

This is the regular stuff you put on fish and chips, and it tastes great, Some supermarkets that rhyme with chafeday, don’t carry this basic and important condiment, and the one in my town does not. I was happy to get it quickly from Amazon, and my fish fry was saved from becoming a dreaded tartar sauce only kind of affair. If you’ve never put this on fried seafood or even just french fries, you are really missing out. Get some and live better.

Couldn’t find this product in my local grocery stores so I ordered it online. The two bottles I ordered came in a pretty small box, but all was good. The product is packaged nicely so no leakage. After using this on French fries at a popular burger place, we wanted to try the product at home and the taste is great. The product doesn’t smell as strong as some vinegars and has a mild flavor. It’s great on fries with a little bit of salt. I’m sure it’s great on fish and chips. The flavor is somewhat nutty with hints of caramel. Not sure why they didn’t have this at our local grocery stores so I was really happy to get the product on Amazon!
