Zip ties come in all lengths and strengths. The photo shows on top, the Honyear 24 inch zip tie. Below that are 3 more zip ties. The bottom is medium in length (13.5"), but extremely light weight and will break when tightened too much. The middle two are typical of what most consumers buy; 8" - 11" and medium strength. The white one is heavier duty than the black one below it even though it does not appear to be so due to the white background. Why go through all of this? Be careful when you buy zip ties. They will say "heavy duty" or "for big jobs". Check the tensile strength. These bad boys are 200 lbs. I am not strong enough to tighten them to 200 lbs. But, I would feel safe securing an item with these knowing that the item would be exposed to 200 lbs of force, or pulling, etc. These aren't the zip ties for computer cable management. But they will secure a gutter downspout to a 4x4 post. The downspout won't come down till the post does!

The plastic is sturdy and it comes with the cutters so all good for the installation on our stairs.

***Update**** My original review of the products were accurate but Honyear made it all right. They emailed me stating that they were sorry about the tool defect and refunded my account and replaced with a new set at no cost. I have to say they did good!!! Original...Don't buy this for the clipper tool...broke 1st time using it when trying to cut off the tail of the cable tie....cheap crap. Cable ties are ok.

Could not find any cable ties longerr than 18 inches, these work well

Bought them to use on AC vents. They are not long enough. You will have to put two or three together for that purpose. Otherwise very heavy duty and durable for other applications. The little cutter things break easily.
