Love it!
My absolutely favorite tenkara rod. My go to at this price point. If your just getting into tenkara and dont want to spend a ton of money till you know your gonna like it this is the rod to try. Caught everything from 3 lb bass to trout and monster sunfish. It casts easily with pvc line and I am very accurate with it. I can cast from my kayak right under all those over hanging tree limbs. It’s balanced nicely and not too heavy. I’ve purchased 6 different inexpensive tenkara rods and they are all heavy compared to this one. It doesn’t tire my arm out. I have just purchased an expensive Japanese tenkara rod but don’t have it yet. I’ll update this review once I’ve tried out the dragon tail rod.

What a POS
This is a replacement to my first purchase that broke the first time I tried to retract the rod. Got a replacement and have not not had a chance to use until now and like the first one, broke trying to retract for the first time. Clearly my return policy is past but I can only now tell all of you potential buyers to not only walk away but run away from this POS rod. Junk, junk and only junk…..

Good beginner Tenkara rod kit.
Getting into Tenkara fly fishing. I have fly fished for years and want to try something new. This was a “complete” Kit to get you started. It is a 12 (twelve) foot rod that is fairly stiff. It can be used for many different species. The fly line is a braided type and I will be adding a level line soon.

Entry level rod, but price point does not reflect this. No MFG site to order parts from
Would give it 3.5 stars but no option for that. The rod is nice, however, the little strips in each tube that applies the friction when expanding tend to stick out and you need to carefully re-insert them. This caused line to snag on it one time. I only used this three times, each time I had issue with collapsing the rod. I fear that this rod will not last but a couple more fishing trips. For the price point I would assume this rod would last. I enjoyed the Tenkara fishing, but I will be looking at a larger brand name and getting a warranty with the rod. I may look to Japan sites for rods. The Tenkara flies are low level flies, I did not use any of them but opted for some purchased on Amazon that were well constructed. The 12' line could be better, it does not have a metal eyelet for the tipit line as some of the more $$ lines I researched did. All in all, the rod is good, could be less expensive as I would say this is an entry level rod to test the Tenkara waters to see if you like this type of fly fishing. My suggestion, if this is your first time trying Tenkara rod, do not go for the kit. Find a less expensive rod ($20-$40) and get the line and flies separate. If you like, as I did, You can then invest in a higher quality rod set. Update: As expected, the rod broke when trying to collapse. It did come with one replacement tip, which I easily inserted but after 45 minutes of trying to find someplace to purchase more replacement tips I gave up. Do your research, spend a but more $$ if you are into Tenkara fishing on a better quality rod from a manufacture that you can get parts from. The tip section tends to stick when collapsing so I fear the replacement tip will break as well.

Could be good. If?
This rod works well and comes with good accessories. The problem is you will break sections and getting replacement sections is in my experience at least is impossible. Comes with extra 1 and 2 sections, but they are flexible and dont break easily. the third section however is very stiff and thin and breaks very easily. Have tried to contact them for replacement to no avail. Could be a good product if you can get replacement sections. Update... I've been in contact with goture and they replaced the sections under warranty. They have been very helpful.

The 7:3 action is great for setting the hook!
The 7:3 action is great for setting the hook! Handled a 13 inch rainbow very well. Comes with extra tip that is in the bag. This is a great starter kit for anyone looking to get into Tenkara
