You have to shake it, just like if you were trying to bring the non mercury down to the start point!!! Then put it in your mouth or armpit 5 minutes, then turn it gently until you see the line!!! It works perfectly fine just like it should, and the panel shows Fahrenheit and Celsius.I feel like this item isn't getting the right reviews because costumers don't know how to use it!

Didn’t work well at all. The starting thermometer reading was 106 degrees. Directions show how to hold and shake the thermometer to make the numbers go down. After about a minute it went down about two small lines. I decided to shake a little harder after about 3 minutes not only did my hand hurt but it only lowered about 2 degrees. I bought this for my friend who is 80 yrs plus. She is never gonna be able to shake that long. Disappointed in this product

I bought these glass thermometers and they didn’t work from the start. No matter how I tried to use them, the readings didn't move at all. It feels like they were defective right out of the box. Total waste of money — I expected something simple and functional, but these failed completely. I would not recommend them.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:These oral thermometers work well but truthfully they’re a little difficult to read (at least for a per person without perfect vision). It’s imperative that you have good lighting to read these thermometers. Aside from this issue I would recommend this product.

It's hard to find a non digital thermometer these days. The digitals I have founds are not accurate, so what's the point in checking your temperature if it won't give you an accurate reading anyhow? Not sure why there have been a bunch of negative reviews, maybe cuz they're not sure how to use a non digital one. This is a simple, straightforward thermometer. Stick it, close your mouth, count 5 minutes (yes, I know it sounds like FOREVER!), and then read the number where the line goes up to. May everyone stay nice and healthy!

My wife and I both tested the thermometers and found they are inaccurate. We read the istructions to be sure we were using them proerly. We left them in our mouths for over 5 minutes each and the temp never showed over 97 degrees for eith of us. Should not take a rocket scientist to use the items. I realize they cant be returned. Sorry I purchased them.
