The Big Bang Theory: Season 9

I'm rescinding my original 1 star review. Yes, I had problems with the Season 9 DVDs on our bedroom DVD player. Yes, I watched a three disc mini series with the same DVD player without issue. BUT I tried the BBT DVDs on another player in the house and they played just fine. I ended up replacing the bedroom player and that new player also had no problem with the discs. So, since I have no explanation for why one (and only one) DVD player balked with season 9 (but not other discs), I'll call the player (a five year old set)- not the DVDs the culprit. Now that I've addressed the technical issues, on to the show itself. I love the show! I haven't laughed so hard or so often since season 1. I was beginning to think the show had jumped the shark in season 8, but so far, season 9 is fresh and funny. I will agree with some other reviewers that the nerdy/science based humor of early seasons is sadly lacking as the series has evolved. There are occasional moments that harken back to the earliest seasons, but they're few and far between now. BBT is more sitcom than nerdy sitcom now. Having said that, it's still funny. =========================================================================================================== Original 1 star review. The problem with buying DVD's vs. renting episodes via Comcast etc. is that the DVD's can sometimes be faulty, That's what happened here. We didn't start watching episodes on these discs until a few weeks after we got the DVDs, so we passed the window to return the item to Amazon. The first few episodes played well but starting with episode 4, the program would stop cold dead for many seconds at a time. The disc itself looks fine - no blemishes, fingerprints, scratches etc. Thinking it may just be one faulty disc, I tried disc 2. That disc wouldn't even load the menu. Is it the DVD player? I don't think so. I just breezed through a 3 disc set of a mini series without a hiccup. We love the show and have watched seasons 1-8 on DVD without incident. But if you buy season 9 on DVD, don't wait to verify if the discs actually work.

It is true that BBT is a rather formulaic show. It found what works and it definitely sticks to it. That said, even in season 9 there, the main characters are still developing and evolving, as well as the relationships between the various characters. Yes the requisite science and nerdy pop culture references are there. There is another Star Wars centric episode, which got to see the return of Bob Newhart decked out in Jedi robes, and Wil Wheaton attending The Force Awakens premier dressed as a Vulcan, but the show continues to be very humorous and entertaining, even though it may not be as much for some people as it was in the first couple seasons. The relationships of the characters continue to be the centerpiece of the show. All the couples go through a period of transition in their relationship, and even Raj does a complete 180 from his days of not being able to talk to women unless drunk with pretty humorous results. Overall I think if you have found the show enjoyable the past few seasons and have not felt it getting stale then you will enjoy this season too. If it has been getting stale for you, then you may not. For those who get the blu rays, the extras include the comic con panel, a few short behind the scenes features, including one devoted to the 200th episode, and a gag reel. Definitely good for what is there. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I had no problems with episode 12 not playing or missing in my set, so It is not a problem that affects the entire lot of blu ray sets out there.

Great DVD to add to your collection

One of the best seasons yet, in my opinion. I am partial to seasons 2, 3 and 4, but something went a little awry for a couple seasons. With 9 I feel like things are back on track. It is fresh again and funny. I'm a big fan and have seasons 1-9. We usually watch a random episode every night. Raj is my favorite character. He has really developed over the course of the show's run.

This is the ONLY series that I have bought every season of ... EVER. The shows are funny to watch years later because the humor and characterizations hold up because what is funny is the interaction of the characters more than "funny lines" (though there are plenty of those as well). We almost always have a DVD in the player so if we want to kill a short bit of time and get a giggle ... we can just turn it on and play. Really is one of the best shows on TV

Great sound and picture. Have only watched few so far so good. For the few people that don't know this show is about. Vol 1 started with young girl Penny that lives across the hall from two geniuses. And the friends that visit. It has followed their lives and all the funny things that have happened to them . By the time reading this sure you know they have be picked up for another season. Yes I would recommend this to anyone. I have season 1-8. Now I have season 9.

Cette saison est aussi efficace que les autres. Alors il est vrai que celle-ci est moins "geek" que les autres, mais même si cela amène quelques critiques de fans, je trouve cela logique. Si dans les premières saisons on tourné vraiment à presque 100% geek, là on se retrouve plus dans une vie quotidienne. Les histoires de couple, leur vie professionnel et leur avenir fait qu'il ne peuvent plus agir comme avant. Mais cela n'enlève en rien l'efficacité et l'humour de cette série. On rigole toujours autant et les situations loufoques sont toujours excellentes. Les personnages sont toujours aussi drôles. Concernant le coffret DVD on a bien le sous-titrage et le doublage français. Même si je trouve le doublage français l'un des plus mauvais qui puisse existé. La VOST devient vraiment incontournable. J'ai commandé le coffret un lundi je l'ai reçu 4 jours plus tard. Vraiment rapide sachant que la date d'estimation de réception était prévu 10 jours plus tard. Pour un import, très bien.

Der Regisseur Mark Cendrowski hat nun 190 der 207 Episoden (Staffel 1-9) die Regie geführt. Er hat schon diverse Vorerfahrungen durch andere TV-Serien und Sitcoms gesammelt und bewies auch hier wieder sein geschicktes Händchen. Achtung Spoiler: Auch bei dieser Staffel ging es rund her. Es wird geheiratet, es wird getrennt, es wird wieder zusammengefunden und nebeneinher wird eine Erfindung gemacht und dazwischen quietschen die Nerds ihre Gags herunter und auch Penny lernte von ihnen schon sehr viel an Ausdrucksweisen und die große Familie bekommt Zuwachs. Und wir erfahren endlich warum Sheldon so auf Züge steht. Spoiler Ende. Einfach herrlich die abgehobene liebgewordene Gemeinde der TBBT-Serie, sie sind noch liebenswerter geworden und man kann so richtig mit ihnen mitfühlen. Eine Sitcom die nicht nur durch deren Humor, sondern auch wegen des Nerdsverhaltens und der wissenschaftlichen Ausdrücke einem zum Lachen bringt. Dazu kommen die einfach grandiosen Gesichtsausdrücke die die Schauspieler zu ihren Rollen machen und oft für noch mehr Lacher sorgen. Für mich zählt diese Serie zu einer der besten Sitcoms überhaupt, verstärkt durch die wunderbare Darstellung der Schauspieler. Und auch die neunte Staffel macht hier keine Ausnahme, sie schafft es wieder einige Überraschungen zu bieten (vor allem Sheldon, na eh klar). Leider werden hier die Rezensionen der verschiedenen Ausgaben, darunter auch Amazon Prime-Serienausstrahlung vermischt. So wurden viele Sternbeurteilungen nicht der Serie zugeteilt, sondern wegen der Ausstrahlungspolitik diverser Streamanbieter. Das drückte leider die eigentliche Sternbeurteilung dieser Staffel in der Gesamtsumme. Bonusmaterial besteht aus: Verpatzten Szenen (leider viel zu kurz), die Feier der 200. Episode, die Vorstellung des Stipendienprogramms durch die Produktion (Top das sowas möglich gemacht wurde), Die Comic-Con 2015 und Antworten durch die Schauspieler von Twitter-Anfragen. Laufzeit des Filmes: Ca. 20 Minuten pro Episode (24 Episoden). Qualität der Blu-Ray: Bildqualität: 1080p/24 (1,78.1). Das Bild ist scharf und ohne Bildstörungen. Tonqualität: Deutsch in DD 5.1 und Englisch in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Der Ton ist gut und die Dialoge gut verständlich, der englische Ton unvergleichlich besser.

Es ist erstaunlich, wieviel aus der Serie rausgeholt wird und man ständig neue Ideen hat. Genau wie die anderen Staffeln ist auch diese sehr amüsant und wirklich klasse. Kann kaum die nächsten Staffeln erwarten ....und hoffentlich kommen noch einige :)
