Decent, small shelf that does exactly as advertized.
I purchased one of these intially as a test, since some of the reviews had me a tad skittish over buying it. Once I got it I found the shelf was pretty securely packaged in its box, and once I started building it the process wasn't too bad. I nearly made one small mistep at the start but it was easy to fix before I got any further. Pay close attention to how you have each wood panel arranged, because it DOES matter when you're building it. I think a lot of people's issues were from them not getting the panels to face the correct direction. After I built it and had it up against my wall it was perfect for holding media. The adjustable shelves were nice and I was able to put a lot of manga, DVDs, and VHS tapes on it. One shelf wasn't enough for the amount of media I had to store so I ordered a 2nd one and I put it together more easier than the first shelf. Together they are perfect. I then bought two more a few weeks after that to redo my library and now I have 4 of these things covered in media. I'm very happy with this product and I would recommend it to other people if they need something that's designed for media storage. I gave 4 out of 5 stars for sturdiness because it's a tad 'shakey' when you're trying to move it around to where you want it. Once you get where you need it and fix it in place it's very solid and I've had no issue. Just be careful when you've moving it from room to room after you put it together.

Great value for price, easy to assemble
This was a tough one because there are a lot of factors at play here. It's particle board, which is why it's cheap. The cam lock fasteners aren't great but once assembled and in place it seems plenty sturdy for media storage (I had to retighten them after moving it in place as they'd wiggled loose a bit). Be advised that it seems amazon is shipping a lot of these via UPS - and I don't know if it's that courier or just the way the product is handled in warehouses but mine showed up with barely a box left; they may as well have shipped it in a plastic grocery bag. It also arrived 4 days later than promised (but I guess thats just the deal you get with Prime these days, right?). Despite that, except for a few chipped corners, all parts and hardware were still there so that's a plus! Assembly was simple, it took me 10 minutes by myself. Instructions are clear pictures with written instructions, also goes together intuitively. So yeah there are issues; but also, it's a great price point for what you get. Once the backing is secured, it actually feels very sturdy, and you can't beat the capacity for the small footprint! It looks clean and simple, has lots of shelves and options for adjustment, fits about anywhere you'd like to put it, and is designed in such a way that if you ever needed extra storage one day, adding one beside the existing would look seamless (a huge bonus for media collectors!). All in, I can't give it less than 5 stars. I'd buy it again!

Stay completely away from this junk!
You are going to read a lot of mixed reviews about this product. I suppose you could call this media cabinet by Atlantic a "hit" or "miss" product. For me, this was a huge miss. I wasted 90 minutes of my time with this piece of junk -- 70 minutes to put together and 20 minutes to dismantle to put back in the box and return it to Amazon. Decades ago, I used to work in a video store. One of my jobs was putting together video furniture. There were always two types of furniture we would provide for our customers.....expensive and cheap. You got to know the manufacturers and how consistently well or poorly constructed their furniture was. Back in the day, one of my favorite manufacturers was SAUDER. However, you paid a premium for their storage cabinets. Right out of the box, I could tell immediately that this company's product was crud. You could see the signs of badly constructed pressboard. Still, I knew what I was getting into when I shelled out a mere $70 for this elaborate shelving system. I opted to go cheap, and I ended up paying the price. The one good thing I can say about Atlantic is that they labeled all their pieces. However, even with that feat accomplished, I ended staring at the instructions for minutes on end trying to figure out how this went together......that is, until I realized, they forgot to include page #3 of the stapled instructions. So, off to the Internet I went and downloaded their instruction manual .pdf. As I examined the shelves I could see defects in the workmanship. There was warping in the pressed wood. As I inserted and turned screws, the brown coating started coming off of the press board. An hour into the construction, I found that the locking system would not properly align --- no matter how many times I gently forced the screws into the wood. The entire bottom section of the cabinet had a sizeable gap because it would not properly align and lock into the upper system. Here's a perfect example of how badly designed this case is.... The holes for the wooden dowels are too big. The dowels do not fit tightly in the holes. They should. After all, these are pivotal pieces of guiding hardware that connect the parts together. Instead, the dowels just sit there loose. They fall out all over the place when you connect the shelves together. The round locking mechanisms don't always lock properly. So, now you have sections of shelving that are wobbling because they can't properly be secured. In all the years I have been putting together furniture like this, I have never seen something so poorly conceived as this shelving unit. The final straw came when I turned it over, in an attempt to nail the backing into the shelf. I could see a huge chunk of pressboard had just become loose on the side. I have included a photo below. There is no way something like that can be covered up. I then had to spend the next 20 minutes unscrewing and dismantling the entire cabinet. I contacted Amazon and have started the return process. Dear reader, I know you will be tempted to buy this cabinet because the picture looks nice and there are more than a few reviews from people who are happy with their purchase. If you want some advice from someone that has put together dozens of these kind of shelving systems over his lifetime -- and knows the good stuff from bad --- then please stay away from this piece of junk. There's bad furniture companies and then a step down from them is Atlantic. I have never seen such an awful product --- from build quality to the mere fact that you can't even properly align and screw this thing together. The sole purpose of this company selling this product is to make a quick buck off customers who want cheap furniture. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money. What that will do is give you less heartache during construction, and, a nicer-looking piece of furniture in the end. These are the kind of products you learn from. By that I mean, you learn never to go cheap -- and if you do, you are taking chances of either getting something that will work for you or hours of wasted time. Brands to consider: Sauder, Venture House. Spend a little more money and get something that will make you happy.

Easy to install. Enough shelf to help organize my CD collection of different sizes.

Very basic and not super sturdy, but good enough for storing your entire dvd collection. You have the option of securing it to the wall for added safety and maybe also stability. Assembly was simple enough, provided you READ and FOLLOW the instructions! I think all the negative reviews reflect how rough people are assembling this unit. There is absolutely no need to overnighten any of the screws/fasteners. If you do, you WILL break it as the material is on the flimsy side and only particle board. NOTE: Handle with care and you should be ok. For me, it is exactly what I was looking for and serves my purpose perfectly. My rating is 4 stars b/c the quality is questionable due to the particle board construction.
