M-D Building Products 14103 5/16 in. x 48 in. x 48 in. White Aluminum Screen Frame Kit

I bought two sets of these to replace the screens on my three small basement windows. Bought an extra set of corners from the same vendor. I could get one length and one width from each piece, so I had enough for 4 windows. Screen fit perfectly into frame using a screen roller tool. Trimmed with knife. I cut to length on miter saw, since they are make of aluminum, and de-burred. Also had to buy extra springs for the third window. They supply four frame pieces, the spline, 2 springs, and 4 corners, and 2 handles with each set. I recommend 1/4" (6mm) clearance on the spring side, and 1/8" clearance on the non-spring side. Springs insert into frame just prior to installing the corners. Handles are inserted into spline groove under the screen and spline. They all worked great, no problems. Be sure to measure every window and don't assume they are identical. (ask me how I know!) Screen not included.

I just finished doing 9 windows with these kits and I'm thoroughly satisfied with them. The quality of the frames and plastic corner pieces is better than I expected. I like that the corners are solid on both sides and not hollow on one side like other brands. They fit together easily; even the corners with the metal retainer clips were not very hard to do. My only criticism is that the instructions are not detailed enough about cutting the pieces to length (see photo). For example, if you have a window that's 28 inches wide and 29 inches tall, you'd need to cut two pieces at 26 1/2 inches and 2 pieces at 27 3/8 inches. You need to subtract 1.5 inches from each measurement because each corner piece is 3/4 inch. Plus you need to be about 1/8 inch shorter for the height (but not the width) to account for the retainer clips that will be on the top edge. Watching a few YouTube videos on installing these is a good idea. It's really pretty easy to do and saves a lot of money compared to custom made screens. Don't forget to buy a good quality screen cloth to go with this kit.

It works and looks great now in my window. That said, the instructions could have been much better. For example, it tells us to measure the size of our old screen. What if we did not have an old screen to begin with? Anyway, some trial and error is expected, and I did have to go back several times and saw down little pieces to get the frame to fit just perfectly. This comes with a spline as well, so don't waste your money buying a separate spline like I did. I do recommend this window frame overall.

Really good product so far

My first time having to replace a screen frame. Easier than I thought with this kit, even if the instructions are not the greatest. Easy to assemble. Like the clips that come with these actually better than the pull down pins on my old frame. Would probably buy these again, if I ever had to replace another frame.

Works great. Saves lots of money

Goes togeather easy. Directions are wrong though. Directions measure your old ones and cut to that size. That is totally wrong. Measure old ones subtract 1.5 “ to allow for the corner inserts. It is surprising , these are made here in the US. No excuse.

Super easy to put together. A little flimsy,but perfect for what I needed it for, and the right price!

These screen frames are great quality—the spline track fits perfectly, and they’re easy to cut to size. I’ve saved the listing so I can reorder if needed, since my screen room has five different sections.

Me tomo 2 semanas decidir que poner de mosquiteros en casa, ordene estos y solo tomo 40 minutos de una mujer inexperta en armarlos. Quedaron muy bien. Solo puse un poco de pegamento en las esquinas con el marco y le dio más firmesa y la calidad muy buena a precio accesible.

Very easy to cut and set up, very pleased with this purchase. Just wish there was an option to get more corner fittings . All my upper windows are smaller and would have liked to be able to buy extra fittings.
