Lovely quality, easy to follow instructions, it's sort of a souped-up version of Rummy. Another hit from Grandpa Beck! (...this is a little thing - but I love that the cards came pre-shuffled).

First off Grandpa Beck does quality productions. I have a few of their card games. All good. Cards are linen, art and design lovely. Sturdy small box. Attention to detail, fun theme. All great. This is a simple and charming variant of Hand & Foot, or Canasta or Burraco. Variations of rummyesque set collection games. There's a Basic and Advanced mode of play. We stuck to Basic cos don't want Take That. If your family plays any off those set collection games you'll pick this up in milliseconds and I think you'll enjoy it. I find the theme attractive and pleasant. Nice game. I'm not a fan of the score card, not enough lines to score different sets separately, which would be easier. Minor grumbly. Very happy with my purchase

I watched this game played on YouTube by the cast of JK! Studios in a series called Play or Pain. The cast looked liked they were having so much fun so I decided to purchase the game and find out for myself. The first thing I noticed about Antiquity Quest was the quality of the materials. The box is sturdy and well made with amazing artwork on the front. The cards are top quality that you can feel when playing. The game is simple to learn with multiple dynamics. Each player receives a "cheat sheet" that explains what the objectives are and the value of the cards. This is a collection game where you attempted to clear your hand and create valuable collections. Be careful that you do not only focus on building collections. Opponents can sabotage your collections and prevent you from completing valuable cones. You can do the same to their sets as well. Depending on if you are playing the standard or advanced version, gameplay can last between 30-90 minutes. It's easy for younger kids to learn. The whole family will have fun with this game.

After much family debating on the pros and cons of narrowed-down-to-three game choices, we chose Antiquity Quest. We LOVE it! It's like canasta with interesting twists. The basic game is mostly luck-of-the-draw which young kids can enjoy: collect five cards of a color or mix them up with wildcards to form a collection. Play a Nigel card and you get two more cards from the deck, or play a Tess who can eliminate the discard pile before the next player has a chance to snatch it up. The advanced version entails some strategy and more opportunities for some skullduggery. This is, after all, a quest. The cards are easy to read and colorful with beautifully drawn pictures of antiquities from six ancient civilizations. The instructions are clear, BUT if you have any questions Grandpa Beck will promptly answer your email. For example: It's ok to peek back through the discard pile (we don't); Tess can't destroy an opponent's completed mixed antiquity collection (I apologized), and once a Nigel has been played he can't be used again in the game. The only downside to the game is the time it takes to shuffle all the bloomin' cards. The scoring can get a bit complicated so put the person best with math in charge.
