Watts Water Technologies 121227 Hammer Arrestor, 1/2" Mip, Lead Free

It took four of these placed around my well fed lawn sprinkler system to quiet all the banging but it worked. The automatic sprinkler valves open and close so quickly it is the perfect condition to cause water hammer and mine was bad. I found that the biggest help was placing these after the valve and as close to the valve as possible to absorb the return shock wave.

Seemed to work for about a week or so, once I had it installed. That required someone with plumbing knowledge. It continued to get worse in its ability to hold air pressure and the water hammer come back in full force. Unfortunately, it's past the time I could return it (30 days) so I'm out of $51. I ended up getting a product from Home Depot called Water Worker 2 Gal. Pressurized Well Tank. It cost $44.97. A friend bought and installed it and told me it had a five year warranty. It's too big to hide inside the wall so it's on the floor in a closet which backs up to a shower in the bathroom. If this loses any pressure, in can be refilled with air. It will require plumber skills to get it hooked up.

Not sure that this really reduced my hammering. The volume of air is so small it's difficult to get it to the right pressure. Just testing the Schraeder Valve uses a lot of the air in it so you have to re-pressurize it.

Works great got rid of the water hammer.

This thing says it comes pre-charged to 35psi. But mine didn't work that well when I got it. I went ahead and hooked the air pump up and pumped it up to 35psi (with the water connected). Not sure if it's a bad idea to do it this way, but it seems to be working perfectly now. When the sprinkler valve shuts off, it just goes silent. No more loud clunk.

The house is quiet once again. Was experiencing clanging pipes from the new front load washer water valves opening & close so quickly. But don't forget to order the brass fittings need to put it in-line.

Great product. Used it on an outside faucet that would hammer badly when my pond refill timer solenoid would shut off. I tried other products to no avail. This fixed the problem immediately and permanently.
