Well made backpacking trowel for digging cat holes
This trowel was well reviewed by Dan Becker and I thought it would be a nice, light replacement for my homemade aluminum angle iron trowel. This trowel by Bogler is well made and will be easier on my hands with its plastic handle tip. Post 1st use Edit: This trowel works fine in somewhat loose soil with small roots. I haven't tried it in rocky soil but it might struggle there. I think with careful use this trowel will do the job in most conditions I will run into in the Rocky Mountains. First use impressions after 8 day backpack trip: This tool really works well as long as some care is taken. In 8 days of use it shows no wear and is ready for more trips.

A Reliable, Comfortable Trowel Worth Every Penny
This backpacking trowel stands out for its durability and excellent grip, making it far more comfortable and dependable than the cheaper alternatives. While slightly larger than some ultralight options, its lightweight build and ergonomic handle make digging quick and painless—no hand strain, no flimsy feel. It's the perfect size to attach to a pack, and its sturdy design gives you confidence when you need to dig fast without worrying about the tool failing or hurting your hand.

Perfect tool for the job
Waited until I had an opportunity to try it out. Don't bother with anything else, this is exactly what you need. Digs well, cuts roots with the serrated sides, with just enough comfort built in with the plastic tip on the end so you aren't hurting your palm if you have to put some weight into it. For the cost and how incredibly light it is, I wouldn't think twice about recommending it.

Best backpacking trowel
This is the perfect trowel for digging a hole for backpackers. Super lightweight yet very strong. Easy to use. This trowel has rubber on the top end so you can push into the ground without hurting your hand. All in all, a simple and reliable tool for going to the bathroom in the backcountry. I bring a zip lock bag with 4 supplies. Black zip lock for waste. Couglin TP (lightest). Wipes (both "baby" and "antiseptic". Simple, fast, sanitary. All that's left in the hole is #2. Carry everything else out--one week of waste will easily fit in a quart zip lock. PS. I pee before squatting. TMI?

Backpacking Trowel
Great quality at a good price. It is light and strong. I like the yellow top so it is easy to find. Also, it great to purchase American made products.

A backcountry must!
Amazing product. Light but very capable of making a cat hole in a variety of ground surfaces, fully capable of cutting through roots and such. I would not go into the backcountry without it.

Excelent little trowel
I used this on my Bike tour. It worked great the few times I needed it, the holes made it easy to strap to the outside of my bags. This was great because I didn't have to worry about fishing it out or storing it with other things when it was dirty! It rinsed off nicely, and was easy enough to dig using a rock to drive it into the dirt! It weights basically nothing its kinda weird to hold something so light! Its aparently the exact length you need to dig to burry waste so that's convenient

COMPACT AND EFFECTIVE
The ultralight backpacking trowel is a perfect blend of durability and minimal weight. It easily cuts through tough soil while barely adding any grams to my pack. Compact, reliable, and eco-friendly—an essential piece of gear I now won’t hit the trail without.

It may be a small item, but a bad trowel will cause a lot of frustration or pain. Either because the trowel can't cut through grassroots or because it digs into your hand instead of the ground. This trowel has some serrated edges, meaning one can cut through roots relatively well and the plastic top on the handle along with the shape of the handle really make it a lot more comfortable to use even in hard soil. With other trowels, I would almost always end up having marks on my hand. Coming in at just 14 g on my scales, this is one of the lightest trowels I've come across and it's nice and packable too. All in all my absolute favourite trowel and I would highly recommend getting one if you like hiking or bikepacking. It's worth the higher price point. The next time you have to dig a hole, you'll be thankful you bought it.

I was weirdly excited to be able to finally own a BoglerCo trowel - to have an original top-of-the-line product and not to be constantly looking for something better. It was a bit of a luxury purchase, but I have no regrets and it'll replace a larger cumbersome plastic trowel that can't handle most hard soils. It is so incredibly lightweight that it'll be an easy choice to take whenever I hike. And I’m pleased to support an enthusiastic small business owner who truly cares about quality, functionality, and continually improving and refining his product.

Keurig op tijd geleverd. Perfecte schep voor onze backpackingen. Zeer licht van gewicht maar voelt nog steeds solide aan. Ik kan deze aanbevelen.
