I bought this gel pack after my husband's surgery. It has a thicker gel inside than other gel packs. It is about half the size of a small travel pillow but will cover the area you need perfectly. It holds the cold quite well but you definitely need to have a cover on it to separate it from your skin. I made a cover for a flaxseed pad and it fit perfectly! This gel ice pad is great for therapy. I recommend this product.

Icing your joints following surgery is a must for healing and comfort. During my recuperation from knee replacement surgery I was instructed to ice my knee. My orthopedist ordered a device that used a hard ice inserts that did not flex to fit my knee. However....a friend of mine, who is also is Physical Therapist, told me about the Col Pac cooling packs. The flexible core of these pads allowed them to form to the shape of my knee. The outer cover is a strong plastic that gives strength and flexibility while allowing it to be wiped clean as needed. I am so glad that I bought 2 pads so one is in the freezer while the other is in use. They freeze in about 30 min. I also put a thin towel between the pad and my skin for comfort. It has now been a month since the surgery and I still use them when needed for pain control especially after physical therapy.

These are the very same ice packs my professional therapist use on all of their patients! They are heavy and stay colder longer and really aided to reduce knee swelling during my recovery!

My only complaint about these ice packs is that they won’t stay in my freezer because everyone in our family loves them! I keep having to buy more. From headaches to backaches to injuries to my youngest son that just gets hot when he’s sleeping….they are a hit all around!

Bought for family member after recommendation from her PT. She likes them a lot, ample size to ice her knee and much preferable (more flexible and stays cold longer) than the other brands of ice packs she’d tried (including the blue color of this same brand).
